Our Top 10 Best Shark Vacuum For Cat Litter Reviews – Expert Tested & Recommended

🏆 Best Choice

1. Shark NV356E Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum: Swivel Steering, HEPA Filter

This is the classic workhorse that just gets it done. The lift-away pod is a game-changer for cat owners, letting you detach the canister and easily vacuum stairs, furniture, and litter box areas without dragging the whole upright. The anti-allergen complete seal with HEPA filter is crucial for trapping fine litter dust and dander, and the swivel steering makes it surprisingly nimble. It’s built to last, with a reputation for durability that cat households rely on for years.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Lift-Away Pod: Detach the canister for portable cleaning of stairs, upholstery, and litter zones
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA: Traps 99.9% of dust and allergens, essential for litter dust
  • Swivel Steering: Excellent maneuverability around furniture and tight spaces
  • Brushroll Shutoff: Safely switches to gentle bare floor cleaning without scattering litter
  • Large Dust Cup: Easy-empty, no bags required

Why We Recommend It

It’s the most versatile upright for the price. You get Shark’s proven suction power and sealed filtration in a design that tackles both large floor areas and precise litter clean-ups. It’s a no-nonsense, durable machine that consistently outperforms in multi-pet homes.

Best For

Families with cats who need one vacuum for whole-home cleaning plus targeted litter box and furniture cleanup. Ideal if you have a mix of carpets and hard floors.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Exceptional suction on both carpets and hard floors
  • Lift-away feature is incredibly useful for above-floor cleaning
  • HEPA filtration effectively contains litter dust and allergens
  • Durable build quality that lasts for years
  • Relatively affordable for its feature set
Cons:
  • Cord length is shorter than some previous models
  • Can be a bit bulky for very small storage spaces
  • Not cordless, so you’re tied to an outlet

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: The vacuum is just like the other Sharks I have had. Great suction, filtration and ease of use. I love the hand roller tool, it works great on my cat trees! Also the other tools work well. The only downfall is the cord is much shorter than my last Shark. My last Shark is still working, but it has been used a lot. Excellent quality, I have no doubt it will last for years. I would buy this again. Only my 3rd Shark because they last while getting put through the test at our house. Its been 30 years of using them. This one is powerful and picks up all the dirt and pet hair. Nice size dirt bin too.

Customer Review: It works great! It’s easy to use and easy to clean. I like that it swivels and gets to places my old vacuum couldn’t. The lift away feature allows easy cleaning of couches, and it gets the tight spots with the attachments. It’s great at picking up dog hair. I never realized my previous vacuum left so much dirt! There is less dust thanks to the HEPA filter. That was a must have.

⭐ Editor’s Choice

2. Shark NV360 Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Upright Vacuum

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Vacuum: Large Dust Cup, HEPA Filter, Swivel Steering, Upholstery & Crevice - NV360

This is the Navigator’s bigger, more powerful sibling. The standout is the extra-large dust cup, meaning fewer stops to empty when you’re dealing with heavy litter and pet hair. It shares the brilliant lift-away pod and HEPA filtration, but the suction feels more aggressive on deep carpets. For homes with lots of litter tracking into high-pile rugs, this model’s power and capacity are a major step up.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Extra-Large Dust Cup: Holds more debris, perfect for big litter messes
  • Lift-Away Pod: Detaches for easy above-floor cleaning
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA: Captures fine litter dust and allergens
  • Powerful Multi-Surface Suction: Excellent on both carpets and bare floors
  • Swivel Steering & LED Headlights: Maneuverable and illuminates hidden litter

Why We Recommend It

If the NV356E is the reliable all-rounder, the NV360 is the heavy-duty specialist. The larger capacity and stronger suction make it the top pick for homes with multiple cats, deep carpets, and serious litter tracking. It’s the editor’s choice because it doesn’t compromise on power or convenience.

Best For

Multi-cat households, homes with lots of carpeting, and anyone who hates stopping to empty the canister halfway through cleaning.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Massive dust cup reduces interruptions during cleaning
  • Very strong suction on deep carpets and rugs
  • Same excellent lift-away and HEPA filtration as the NV356E
  • LED headlights help spot stray litter pellets
  • Stellar maneuverability with swivel steering
Cons:
  • Slightly heavier than the base Navigator model
  • Cord is still on the shorter side
  • Can be overkill for small apartments with mostly hard floors

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This is a long one, but it’s worth the read if you’re doing some serious shopping for a vacuum cleaner:I picked this up in October so I’ve been using it for a few months just to get a genuine sense of how this vacuum really performed and I am absolutely impressed! This beats my Dyson AND my Kirby hands down. Superior suction, amazing maneuverability, lighter than either the Kirby or the Dyson. ( If you’re wondering why I own so many vacuums, I clean for a living.) I bought this for the house. I have two cats and a husband who’s into Warhammer so you know there are sprew bits and cat hair everywhere and this thing handles it like a champ! I wasn’t sold on how small the floor attachment was until I used it: I can get underneath my barstools so much easier now and my entire house ( approx. 2000 sq ft.) is done in 20 minutes, tops! There is a learning curve, but that’s something you get with any new vacuum. I was also super impressed by the ease with which I can switch from floor to handheld attachments. Some of these other vacuums I’ve used are so bulky and difficult to handle all the small attachments… Not this one! I’m able to switch back and forth from floor to handheld quick, fast and in a hurry. Bonus points that it’s lightweight. I’m not killing myself just to vacuum my house. It’s really saved my back! And it was so much less expensive than the Dyson or the Kirby. The window on the floor attachment gives me a clear view of the roller brush ( yeah, it makes me accountable which is a good thing. It’s harder to ignore when I can see it so thanks for that, too. ). The cord is a tad short, so I went ahead a bought a small extension cord to go with it, but other than that, I’m very impressed! I wish I had bought this years ago. I will never buy another vacuum from anyone else other than Shark again. Good job, guys! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious little vacuum.

Customer Review: This the best vacuum hands down, used to own one and used it for years until the hose tore. So glad to be an owner of a shark again. Suction is amazing. Picked up stuff my dirt devil could not, dirt devil was the worse vacuum I ever owned and I paid more for that one. Easy to put together, functions amazingly, worth the money. You won’t regret it.

Freedom from cords is a huge win for quick litter clean-ups. This lightweight stick converts to a handheld in seconds, making it perfect for grabbing tracked litter from stairs, furniture, and around the litter box area. • LED lights are genuinely helpful
  • Easy to empty and maintain

  • No place to store tools on the unit itself

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I wanted a lightweight cordless vacuum that could go from floor vac to hand vac. I researched my options and settled on this one. We have a cat and also are allergic to cats (go figure) so really wanted something to get the cat hair under control. Unbeknownst to me when I ordered this, not only do we have a cat but we also had a major flea situation (I can’t bring myself to use the word ‘infestation’). I ripped this lil’ Shark out of the box and immediately started vacuuming, and have used it almost daily for the past three weeks. Really impressed with the suction, charge, ease of use, and ease of emptying. It’s easy to transition it from a floor vac to a hand vac, and the pet hair attachment and crevice tool seem good. I wish there was a place on the device to store the extra tools, because I’m just wandering around from room to room carrying them in a plastic bag for whenever I need to swap them in and out. Also a little annoying that I sometimes have to power off and on when it gets unhappy with one of the throw rugs and the floor brush stops spinning. But overall, I love it! I have two Dysons, a Roomba, and a shop vac, and this one has been getting by far the most use. I’m shocked and horrified by how much dust and fur it picks up every day. Gross but satisfying (and fleas are now at bay!!).

Customer Review: I’ve been using my Shark Cordless vacuum for a few months now. I still love it. I was waiting to make sure it kept working before reviewing. So far, so good. I haven’t had the best luck with the less expensive cordless vacuums. One was so hard to clean I just sent it back. Another had a problem with the rollers not spinning. I managed to keep it going for 2 years but always presented problems. This one is easy. The rollers stop the nanosecond a problem is detected and nothing has gotten wrapped up in them. This one is not so expensive that I couldn’t afford it and is what I was looking for. It seems durable and hopefully it will last more than a few years. It’s easy to use, lightweight and empties very easily. Just hold it over the garbage can and push the button. Nice. It’s also easy to charge. I just plug it in next to a wall and let it charge. My only complaint is actually that the charge barely lasts long enough. I have 1204 sq. ft. on 3 levels. I use a larger, corded vacuum for the top level that has 2 carpeted bedrooms. So, I’m only vacuuming the hard floors on the 2nd level (with some throw rugs) and the carpeted living room on the ground floor. Also 18 total carpeted steps. So, I wish the charge would last another 10-15 minutes for a more complete job. That said, it works so well, that I’m still very happy. The best part is that it’s small enough and light enough to make cleaning the stairs a lot less of a chore than with a full-sized regular vacuum. The rollers pull strongly and the suction is quite adequate. Not overwhelmingly so but does the job. I have 2 cats and need to be able to have a handy device especially for the steps where they love to play.

4. Shark AA701 Cyclone PET Handheld Vacuum

Shark AA701 Cyclone PET Handheld Vacuum: HyperVelocity Suction, Pet Hair Pickup, Lightweight, XL Dust Cup, Tools

Sometimes you just need to clean up a small litter spill without dragging out a big vacuum. This handheld is a powerhouse in a tiny package. At just 1.6 lbs, it’s incredibly easy to grab and use for quick jobs on furniture, car seats, or around the litter box. The HyperVelocity suction is surprisingly strong for its size, and the XL dust cup means fewer empties. It’s the perfect companion to your main vacuum.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • HyperVelocity Suction: Powerful cleaning in a lightweight hand vac
  • Ultra-Lightweight (1.6 lbs): Effortless for quick clean-ups
  • XL Dust Cup: Holds more debris than typical handhelds
  • Pet Hair Tool & Crevice Tool: Specifically for litter and fur in tight spots
  • Cordless & Charging Dock: Always ready to grab and go

Why We Recommend It

It solves the “I don’t want to unpack the big vacuum” problem perfectly. For daily litter spills, crumbs, and pet hair on upholstery, this is the fastest, most convenient tool you can own. Its strength defies its size.

Best For

Quick spot clean-ups, car interiors, furniture, stairs, and as a secondary vacuum for small messes. Essential for any cat owner’s kitchen counter or near the litter box.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Incredibly strong suction for a handheld
  • Extremely light and easy to handle
  • Good battery life and quick charging
  • XL dust cup reduces emptying frequency
  • Great pet-specific tools included
Cons:
  • Runtime is limited to small jobs (10-15 minutes)
  • Not meant for cleaning large floor areas
  • Filter requires regular cleaning for optimal performance

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Excellent tool. I’ve used it everywhere! A fantastic, light weight handheld vacuum with strong suction. People have said the battery doesn’t last long. That has not been my experience. I have used it on cleaning jobs and in my own home and it last plenty long. I even used it on a very dirty 2 hour job today and it never slowed down one bit. The attachments all work and fit well. The upholstery/dog hair attachment works great too, even on short wire dog hair.

Customer Review: This is the best handheld vac I’ve ever owned. I use the soft brush attachment to keep my wood floor crumbs from up under my kitchen cabinet base. I use the smooth attachment to lightly lift dust from my Amish built tweed sofa. I use the crevice tool to pick up crumbs around the garbage can and I pick up wood pieces from my fireplace hearth. I also use the crevice tool to deep vac my dryer lint trap and my baseboards. I have owned this hand vac for a year and the suction is consistent and amazing. It hold a charge for a week and blinks when it’s getting low on charge. It’s easy to empty and to clean the filter. It’s durable and easy t use. The noise level is commensurate to its effectiveness and certainly a great value for the money. I will never use a different brand. It’s the perfect hand vac to complete the job of my robot and large vacuum. It reaches beside toilets, behind my freestanding tub and around and behind end tables. Such a time saver I’ve bought it for my daughters for their home that have pets and they also say it’s the best handheld vac they’ve ever owned. BUY IT!

5. Shark HV301 Rocket Ultra-Light Corded Vacuum

Shark HV301 Rocket Ultra-Light Corded Bagless Vacuum with Swivel Steering for Carpet & Hard Floor Cleaning

This is the no-nonsense, ultra-lightweight stick that feels like a cordless but delivers corded power. At under 9 lbs, it’s a breeze to carry up and down stairs, and it converts to a handheld for litter box and furniture cleaning. The swivel steering is fantastic, and because it’s corded, you get unlimited runtime and consistent, strong suction. It’s a favorite among professional cleaners for its reliability and power-to-weight ratio.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Ultra-Lightweight (Under 9 lbs): Easy to carry and maneuver, especially on stairs
  • Corded Power: Unlimited runtime and consistent strong suction
  • Converts to Handheld: Versatile for above-floor cleaning
  • Swivel Steering: Excellent control and navigation
  • Fingertip Controls: Easy switch between carpet and bare floor mode

Why We Recommend It

If you want the maneuverability of a stick vacuum but can’t compromise on power or runtime, this is it. It’s the workhorse that never quits, perfect for daily litter cleanup across a whole home without battery anxiety.

Best For

Homes with lots of stairs, medium to large areas, and anyone who prefers corded reliability over cordless convenience. Also great for cleaning cars and garages.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Fantastic suction power, rivaling heavier uprights
  • Extremely light and easy to carry
  • Unlimited runtime—never stops mid-clean
  • Converts easily to handheld for versatility
  • Simple, durable design with low maintenance
Cons:
  • Cord can be limiting in very open floor plans
  • Dust cup is smaller than full-sized uprights
  • No HEPA filter on this specific model (some dust recirculation)
  • Cannot stand upright on its own without propping

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I have lots of vacuums. I have cordless sticks, traditional sweepers and the robot vacuums that run when I’m not around. I have two dogs, so I feel like I need to clean the floors constantly. I found that the cordless sweepers are convenient, but not very powerful. I wanted a light vacuum with strong suction and I knew that a battery wouldn’t work…that’s why I got the corded version. Wow. It’s so powerful. It really picks up the dirt and I am very happy with how well it cleans my carpets. The cord is long enough that I can move around easily. It’s not very noisy and I really enjoy it. It was super easy to put together and although I saw some negative reviews about storage, I haven’t had any issues with just leaning it up against a wall. It was a great buy and I am very happy with the quality.

Customer Review: I bought this in August and waited until October to do an informative review. I own a cleaning business and use this daily. It’s so lightweight and easy to maneuver. I had an expensive Dyson, but the Dyson was so cumbersome to carry (an heavier) and such a chore just to use the attachment. This vacuum is so easy to use. The suction began to waver, but I replaced the filters, and it was like new again. This vacuum is best I’ve ever had tbh. I’ve had the super expensive ones, but was never completely satisfied as I am with this one. I’ve recommended this one to others and sent the link to buy bc I love it so much. I’m so glad I got this. It’s made life and my job so much easier. I love the perfect lines it makes in the carpet, as well. (I love to leave the carpet fluffy.) It’s easy to empty and takes all of about five seconds to dump. It vacuums bare floors just as efficiently as the carpet. You can use just the top part for the couch and throw pillows or a long tube for higher up areas like cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling or hard top reach areas like under the couch or under the bed. I saw in the reviews that the cords was too short, but the cord is pretty long and doesn’t bother me at all. When the filters aren’t clogged, the suction is incredible and doesn’t miss a thing. For a large house, you might need to do a dump midway through if the floors are especially filthy, but usually it just needs to be dumped at the end of the project, which takes all of five seconds. It’s a great value for the price. I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase.

6. Shark IZ363HT Cordless Vacuum

Shark IZ363HT Cordless Vacuum: HEPA Filter, Lightweight, Portable, 50-min Runtime, Removable Handheld, Pet Tools

This is Shark’s premium cordless offering, and it’s a beast. The 50-minute runtime is among the best, and the HyperVelocity Accelerated suction is genuinely impressive. The PowerFins brushroll digs deep into carpets to pull out embedded litter and fur. It includes a removable handheld module and a full set of pet tools, all with a sealed HEPA system. For a completely cordless, high-performance clean, this is the top-tier choice.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • 50-Minute Runtime: One of the longest-lasting cordless Shark batteries
  • HyperVelocity Accelerated Suction: Exceptional power for a cordless
  • PowerFins Brushroll: Self-cleaning rollers that dig deep into carpet
  • Sealed HEPA System: Traps fine litter dust and allergens
  • Removable Handheld & Pet Tools: Full versatility for all surfaces

Why We Recommend It

It’s the most capable cordless Shark for pet owners. You get superior suction, long runtime, and excellent filtration without any cords. The self-cleaning brushroll is a huge plus for preventing hair wrap, which is a common issue with litter-related fur and hair.

Best For

Tech-savvy pet owners who want the best cordless experience, homes with mostly hard floors and low-pile rugs, and anyone who values HEPA filtration and long battery life.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Outstanding suction power for a cordless vacuum
  • Excellent 50-minute battery life
  • Self-cleaning brushroll minimizes hair wrap
  • Sealed HEPA filtration is great for allergies
  • Very versatile with handheld conversion and tools
Cons:
  • Premium price point
  • Dust cup is smaller than upright models
  • Can struggle a bit on very deep, shaggy carpets
  • Some users report the floor head can clog with fine dust/pet hair

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: As someone who’s always on the lookout for a vacuum that’s both powerful and easy to use, the Shark Cordless Vacuum Cleaner (IZ363HT) has completely exceeded my expectations. I originally picked it up to deal with all the pet hair around the house, and it’s been a game-changer. What I love most is how lightweight and portable it is. I don’t have to wrestle with a bulky, corded vacuum anymore, which makes cleaning way easier. The fact that it’s cordless means I can take it around the house (and even into the car) without being limited by power outlets. The 50-minute runtime is impressive too—I can easily clean my entire house in one go without worrying about it running out of battery halfway through. It’s also great for pet owners. The powerful pet hair pickup feature works wonders on furniture, rugs, and floors, pulling up every last bit of fur. The HEPA filter is an added bonus, capturing even the tiniest dust particles and ensuring that the air stays fresh while I clean. I also love how easy it is to switch between the different attachments. The crevice tool gets into those tight spots, and the dusting brush is perfect for delicate surfaces. Plus, the removable handheld makes it a breeze to clean stairs, upholstery, or any place that needs extra attention. Overall, this Shark vacuum has made my cleaning routine more efficient and enjoyable. It’s powerful, versatile, and just so easy to use. If you’re looking for a high-performing, portable vacuum, this one’s definitely worth considering.

Customer Review: I have been a “vacuum connoisseur” since I was a teenager – my Mom kept a clean house and I inherited her enjoyment of a clean house. Vacuuming is my favorite house chore – it actually relaxes me, so I always enjoy having a great vacuum that is easy to use. Right now, we have four doggos – Husky/GSD/Malamute mix, Husky/GSD/Dingo mix, GSD/Cattledog mix, and a purebred Carolina Dog (American Dingo). As you can imagine – we have a LOT of fur around here. My dogs literally shed twice a year – six months in the spring and six months in the fall. 🙂 I vacuum the entire house at least once a day and sometimes twice. I’ve had several cordless vacs – two from Dyson, one from Bissell, and two from Shark. The Dysons were dismal at picking up fur, and the Bissell was worse. And don’t even get me started on the robot vacuums – we have had four (Roombas, Bobi, and Eufy) – completely ineffective and a waste of money. I got my first Shark Rocket Pet Pro vacuum in 2017, and I can’t say enough about it! I have vacuumed up tons of fur with it, and it has always had great suction, great power, and it’s easy to keep it clean. I just replace the filters on it every month or two, and that’s all the maintenance it needs. That poor vacuum died last week (through no fault of its own). I spent three days researching cordless vacuums, and kept coming back to the Shark Rocket Pet Pro. I bought a second to replace the first, and am still in love with this vacuum. Bonus: The new one that I bought has the upgraded handle with the hook for the motor, so it can stand on its own and be easily stored. The ONLY issue I have with this vacuum (and it’s not a huge problem): The self-cleaning brushroll is AMAZING! But – I have to stop once in a while and pull a ball of white Husky fur out of the floor attachment – the hole behind the brushroll that takes the debris up the long rod to the dustcup gets clogged (I tried to show a picture of it). When this gets blocked, the vacuum won’t pick anything up. Again, not a deal breaker, especially with the self-cleaning brushroll, but it is the one less-than-perfect aspect of this unit. And I’m probably the only one in the world with this issue, because I have my beautiful fur-factory doggos running around here. 🙂 Overall, I adore this cordless vac and will recommend it to everyone!

7. Shark NV752 Rotator Powered Lift-Away TruePet Upright Vacuum

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: WOW!! I had a Shark Navigator Lift-a-way, and after 15 years of faithful service, the hose tore and duct tape didnt work. After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I tried to find it in a store. But NONE. I pulled the trigger and ordered it earlier this week. Today, it came and I put it together. My carpet was ready for a good vacuuming. This Shark is AMAZING. SUPER STRONG SUCTION. I had to back the suction off a bit (easy to access, just like the old Shark. PERFECT! I used it on my carpeted steps. Perfect! The attachment for steps is not motorized and actually does a better job than the old Shark. (It had a motorized attachment not unlike the full-sized carpet sweeper) Now I wont hate doing steps!!! I used it on my smooth kitchen floor….works great. GREAT VACUUM!! The price is right. Everything I saw at Kohls, Walmart, were either way low-quality or too high of price. Glad to be able to post a positive review on this. I was worried to never find another vacuum as good as my old Shark. Hope this helps you make a decision. 🙂

Customer Review: I am where vacuums go to die. With 4 dogs and 5 cats, living on a mountain farm, I kill vacuums on a regular basis. I’ve managed to take out everything from an old Kirby to a new Dyson & everything in between. Even the ones designed for pet hair didn’t last long. Then I got a shark navigator. It was true love! It was like having a Catholic priest come in on a regular basis to perform an exorcism on my carpets. For years, me & my Shark performed miracles in my home, proclaiming from my mountain top… THIS HOUSE IS CLEAN! Then we moved. I allowed a stranger to take my beloved Shark and haul it 2600 miles. By the time it arrived, it was too late. I founded it shoved behind a pile of boxes, hidden by the movers until after they left. It was literally in pieces, it’s hoses and cords shredded and pulled from thier sockets. The handle snapped off at the neck, there was no chance of resurrection. I couldn’t imagine what kind of torture my poor loyal side kick had endured, and was in doubt I would ever know such admiration for a household appliance again. I started the quest for a new vacuum, of course I knew it would be impossible to find such perfection again. Each year the new models get cheaper in parts while more expensive in price. After days of exhaustive searching… thinking perhaps I could find a remanufactured version of my old pal, I gave up. It was time to admit I had to buy something different. Still, my Navigator had been so wonderful, and I hadn’t found anything on the market that seemed better so I ordered a newer model, and set my heart to disappointment. Certainly I would never find another who could make my heart pitter pat like that again! My new Shark arrived and I pulled it from the box. It was pretty, shiny, and a lovely color. I assembled the parts easily, hearing the click as each locked in place. It had a good weight to it, though I felt a bit like betraying a loved one as I tucked it into the closet… not yet ready to actually turn it on for a test run. The puppy took advantage of my distraction, as cable & internet providers came and went. The pup shredded anything he found tempting that had already been unpacked, including packing material. Little Styrofoam pieces and bits of a silk flower arrangement littered a bedroom floor. A calendar lying on top of a box would no longer adorn our wall. And fluffy bits of golden retriever dotted the carpet where he had rolled and played during his destructive frolic. I cleaned up what i could by hand and then instinctively reached in the closet for my Shark. It was not my dear, loyal soldier that heeded my call for assistance. No, there was a new soldier at the ready and it was time to see if it could handle the job. I plugged it in, and turned it on. The Shark came to life, illuminated with the power surging through it. With a light touch, the new machine moved as though floating over the floor, and followed my directions as though reading my mind. The shredded debris was instantly gone, nothing missed, no second pass needed. It was so efficient we were done before I knew it. I popped out the tank, emptied it and slipped it back in with ease. I rewrapped the cord and rolled the vacuum back to the closet. As I tucked it in to its spot I gave it a quick pat and whispered, “That’ll do Shark. That’ll do.” It had done its duty well, with no hesitation or complaints. My old friend was laid to rest, and a new one had come to fill the hole in my heart & my closet. My dogs & cats fur would not be allowed to over run my home. I had a new champion that promised to fight the good fight. All that remains to be seen is how long it will last. A s we all lived happily ever after.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: AWESOME Vacuum! Had my last Shark Rocket for 7 years. They work well, light weight, strong suction for dirt & PET HAIR and last a LONG time! Doesn’t take up a lot of room to store, long cord and easy to empty. Checks all the boxes! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Customer Review: So far I have used this vacuum twice and It’s a pretty strong stick vacuum. It works really well on carpet and hard floors. I like that it is so versatile. You can use the tools with the stick extension or attach the tools directly to the vacuum for closer jobs. It definitely has a great suction which I love about Shark vacuums. Shark has been one of my favorite brands of vacuum tools. I have used the navigator, i have a cordless hand vacuum that I use to clean my truck that works great and I had a Shark robot vacuum at one point as well. Shark vacuums have just been great machines all around. I will say the reviews about not being able to stand the vacuum up is only somewhat accurate. If the dust bin and motor are attached as you normally would to vacuum your floors then the weight of it will cause it to fall over. The roller brush part isn’t wide enough or heavy enough to hold it up. However, there is a little hook down by the roller on the front of the extension tube that is meant to hold the motor and dust cup. If you remove the motor and place it on the storage hook it will stand up perfectly and become a little more compact. It distributes the weight and BOOM it stands without issues. Love the light on it too. It lit up dust and dirt I couldn’t normally see. I can use it under my bed which I like because my pups like to lay under it with the toy graveyard. It’s a nice machine for a 856 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment. I mostly have hard floors but it works great everywhere. Pretty decent price too for $125. The upholstery tool and brush tool are combined. To use the brush they must be together but to use the upholstery tool you push the release button and the brush will pop off to reveal the upholstery tool. Pretty nifty stuff. As other reviewers mentioned there isn’t a place to store the tools but to me that is a minor inconvenience.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I did a lot of research before buying this and glad I did. It’s my first cordless and, maybe I just got lucky but I couldn’t be happier with it. It has plenty of suction power. You name it and it sucks it up from cat hair to kibble, cheerios to rice. It has a sensor that “knows” when it’s on carpet and automatically the vacuum increases power. Then when it gets on vinyl/smooth flooring it knows and and automatically lowers the power a bit but still easily sucks up everything without flinging it back. It also has sensors and knows when you get close to a wall and automatically increases power so it gets everything close to the wall. The other thing it has sensor(s) for is that it “knows” is when it is sucking up more dirt in a particular spot and so also speeds up to be sure it gets it all. All that speeding up when needed and then slowing down, is to save battery power without sacrificing cleaning. I’ve run it for about 30 minutes in that “auto” mode and still had a little bit of battery power left. You can manually set it to a constant low or high power but I’ve left it on the middle, automatic power detect setting and let it decide how much power to use and when to use it (or not). It does such a good job on that setting that I see no reason to change it. I suspect on a constant high setting your battery would run out of juice pretty quickly, probably in 15 minutes or so. I also find that I use the flex wand more than I thought I would. Great for getting under beds or whatever without bending over so much to do so. When you’re finished vacuuming, just stick it on the docking station and the docking station sucks out the dirt from the vacuum cleaner and puts that dirt in a docking station container. When docked, it also recharges the battery. That dock station container holds a lot so you don’t need to empty it very often maybe once a month or so, if that much depending on your situation. When you do need to empty the docking station container, it easily disconnects from the docking station with one hand. Take the container and hold it over garbage can, push a lever and the bottom opens up and dumps everything in garbage can. I wish it came with more attachments. Mine came with two and neither had a brush which I really would like to have. I also wish there was some onboard way to carry one or more of the attachments on the vacuum itself. I knew these things weren’t including when I bought it so no stars off.

Customer Review: I know it is expensive, but this baby is worth every penny. It picks up dirt, dog hair, and all the rest even better than my big vacuum used to. The canister isn’t as big as I wish I was, but I don’t even care with how amazing it is. The auto empty feature makes up for it since I don’t have to go out to the kitchen and dump a canister then reattach it, and repeat. No cord to trip over is a bonus. I do recommend a second battery if you like to vacuum more than 20-25 minutes on carpet. I use the smart sense feature which still picks up all the nasty on my carpets. Works on my couches, pillows, mattress, hardwood floors, and medium pill carpet. I think it would do well on high pill carpet too. It also works on my bathroom mats. I literally can’t say enough amazing things about this. I look forward to vacuuming.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Shark Vacuum For Cat Litter

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a Shark vacuum for cat litter, we prioritize suction power to pick up both fine dust and clumps, filtration (HEPA is ideal) to contain allergenic particles, and versatility for cleaning litter box zones, furniture, and floors. We also look at dust cup size—larger is better for litter messes—and accessories like pet tools and crevice tools. Ease of emptying is critical; no one wants to wrestle with a dusty canister after cleaning litter. Finally, we consider your home’s layout: corded vs. cordless, upright vs. stick, and weight for carrying up stairs.

Budget Planning

You can get a capable Shark for cat litter from around $120 to over $500. The best budget pick (IX141) offers cordless convenience under $150. Mid-range models like the NV360 or HV322 ($200-$300) provide more power and capacity. Premium options with auto-empty or powered lift-away (like the IP3253 or NV752) run $400-$600 but offer ultimate convenience and performance. Decide if you value cordless freedom, maximum suction, or low maintenance, and budget accordingly.

Final Thoughts

Shark dominates the mid-range vacuum market for a reason: they pack powerful suction, smart features, and pet-focused designs into reliable machines. For cat litter, the NV360 Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe is our top all-around pick for its unbeatable combo of power, capacity, and sealed filtration. But the “best” truly depends on your home. If you hate cords, the IZ363HT or IX141 are stellar. If you have deep carpets and stairs, the NV752 is worth the investment. Any of these Sharks will drastically cut down on litter tracking and keep your home healthier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can Shark vacuums handle clumping cat litter?

A: Yes, most Sharks can handle clumping litter, but it’s best to use the hard floor setting and avoid large, wet clumps that could clog. The powered brushrolls on some models (like the Rotator) are excellent for breaking up and picking up dried clumps from carpets. Always empty the dust cup after cleaning litter to prevent odors.

Q: Are Shark vacuums good for fine litter dust?

A: Absolutely. Models with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal and HEPA filters (like the NV356E, NV360, NV752, IZ363HT, and IP3253) are specifically designed to trap 99.9% of fine dust and allergens inside the vacuum. This is crucial for litter dust, which can aggravate asthma and allergies.

Q: Should I get a corded or cordless Shark for cat litter?

A: It depends on your needs. Corded models (Navigator, Rocket) offer unlimited runtime and often stronger suction, ideal for whole-home cleaning and deep carpet litter. Cordless models (IX141, IZ363HT, IP3253) provide unbeatable convenience for quick clean-ups and are perfect for small homes/apartments or as a secondary vacuum. If you have a large home with lots of carpet, corded is safer. For mostly hard floors and quick jobs, cordless is great.

Q: How often should I empty the dust cup when cleaning litter?

A: Empty it after every use if possible. Cat litter, especially clay-based, can be heavy and contain dust that settles. Frequent emptying maintains suction power and prevents odors. Models with larger dust cups (NV360, NV752, HV322) can go longer between empties, but it’s still good practice to empty after cleaning the litter box area.

Q: Do Shark vacuums work well on litter tracked into deep-pile carpets?

Navigator Lift-Away series (NV356E, NV360, NV752) and the Rocket Pet Plus (HV322). The rotating brush agitates the carpet fibers to pull out embedded litter pellets and fur. For very deep shag, you might need to go over spots multiple times, but Sharks are generally effective on carpet.

Cleaning up after cats doesn’t have to be a daily battle. With the right Shark vacuum, you can tackle litter dust, tracked pellets, and pet hair quickly and effectively. Whether you need the all-around power of the NV360 Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe, the cordless freedom of the IZ363HT, or the grab-and-go convenience of the WANDVAC handheld, there’s a Shark here to fit your home and budget.
