The new one is better than the basic model we had. It has unbelievable suction and clean wonderfully. It is a bit harder to move and is a bit noisier. Perhaps because it is so new and needs to break in. I think the noise is from the self cleaning on the roller. However with two dogs and long haired women it is worth it. Highly recommend. After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I tried to find it in a store. But NONE. I pulled the trigger and ordered it earlier this week. Today, it came and I put it together. My carpet was ready for a good vacuuming. This Shark is AMAZING. SUPER STRONG SUCTION. I had to back the suction off a bit (easy to access, just like the old Shark. PERFECT! I used it on my carpeted steps. Perfect! The attachment for steps is not motorized and actually does a better job than the old Shark. (It had a motorized attachment not unlike the full-sized carpet sweeper) Now I wont hate doing steps!!! I used it on my smooth kitchen floor….works great. GREAT VACUUM!! The price is right. Everything I saw at Kohls, Walmart, were either way low-quality or too high of price. Glad to be able to post a positive review on this. This beats my Dyson AND my Kirby hands down. Superior suction, amazing maneuverability, lighter than either the Kirby or the Dyson. ( If you’re wondering why I own so many vacuums, I clean for a living.) I bought this for the house. I have two cats and a husband who’s into Warhammer so you know there are sprew bits and cat hair everywhere and this thing handles it like a champ! I wasn’t sold on how small the floor attachment was until I used it: I can get underneath my barstools so much easier now and my entire house ( approx. 2000 sq ft.) is done in 20 minutes, tops! There is a learning curve, but that’s something you get with any new vacuum. I was also super impressed by the ease with which I can switch from floor to handheld attachments. Some of these other vacuums I’ve used are so bulky and difficult to handle all the small attachments… Not this one! I’m able to switch back and forth from floor to handheld quick, fast and in a hurry. Bonus points that it’s lightweight. I’m not killing myself just to vacuum my house. It’s really saved my back! And it was so much less expensive than the Dyson or the Kirby. The window on the floor attachment gives me a clear view of the roller brush ( yeah, it makes me accountable which is a good thing. I had tied with my cleaner and paper towels and such, but this did incredible!The nozzle attachments made it easy to go from large stains to smaller ones very quickly, there were no leaks, and I had so much cleaner left over I decided to just start cleaning my whole rug with. I love them and felt they worked amazingly.Next, I have 3 dogs & a cat. Customer Review: “I have been a Dyson monster owner for many years. This shark does better on several fronts. It is more maneuverable and has a lower profile front head so you can reach under cabinets to baseboards which the monster simply would not do. I realize Dyson has probably upgraded in this area I am comparing to an older model because that is what I have. Suction on the shark is awesome beats out the Dyson although again my Dyson is older and maybe a bit leakier in the seals. Biggest thing on this Shark which really is a game changer for me is the ability to pick up the vacuum with the handle and then vacuum using the wand in other hand ( this is shown on the box package) and really makes cleaning stairs so much easier. I have a flight of wood stairs. it was always a thrash with a Dyson because I would have to leave the base and use the long hose and wand which was always annoying to manage. this shark you can carry along with you and just vacuum as you go cuts the time and headache on stairs considerably and in fact with old Dyson I usually often would just skip doing the stairs and let them get dirtier and dirtier so much was it annoying. This is a seamless move from vacuuming the floor to lifting off the wand and walking up the stairs and vacuuming. Can also change attachments on the fly while vacuuming in carry mode. I will say the weight and balance of this vacuum when using on the floor is a bit heavier as other users have mentioned but unless you were doing a lot of vacuuming on a very large space or have strength issues this not an issue. I like the clasps that hook on the dust container on this vacuum the dysons were always a bit perilous if you pushed one wrong button you could dump the thing open when transporting it. Also I never felt super comfortable lifting the vacuum using the handle on my Dyson because it felt like you could rip the dustbin off if not careful (outward pull). This feels more secure. Durability remains to be seen as I’ve had Dyson about 10 years so that is a plus although have replaced a few parts along way… Hoses especially. One thing I don’t like as much about the is when I empty the shark the dust container has some tubes/structure in which debris tends to get hung up on when I empty. Have to mess with it a bit more to fully dump. the Dyson it was easy to just open and dump the whole thing out one shot. Overall awesome value great features. Unless it dies real early… I’m a fan”

Customer Review: “As a professional cleaner of 8.5 years I’ve used every sort of vacuum out there. I needed something for carpets and hard floors that was lightweight, cost effective (and worked great for my own personal use. My home has three levels and I wanted something small I could quickly grab and clean with. My favorite vac ever is a Miele canister but it’s not great for my thicker carpets (but she’s the best I’ve ever used). Sharks have great suction (and getting pricey) but don’t last a year- at least for me as much as I use them.I read most of the reviews for this on here before purchasing. Let me tell ya- I’m so glad I bought this little gem. She’s ALMOST the perfect mix between an upright and stick vac-PLEASE someone make that!!Pros:It’s tall!!! Taller than any vacuum I’ve ever seen. Wasn’t expecting that.Quality- NOT cheap plastic. It’s thick and durable same any Shark stick I’ve used and the likeSuction!! It’s amazing!! Someone complained that 4 amps isn’t enough…. That’s not how vacuums work- 4 amps is plenty- it’s how the motor uses it is what matters (higher the amp is a marketing ploy). This little guy has the power and punch almost if not the same as any full size upright that I’ve used.Beater brush is awesome- beautiful lines on my carpet (actual carpet not just rugs) and picked up an embarrassing amount of dirt /dust in a small area. Not sure on the hair cutting feature yet- I don’t have high hopes for that because I’ve never seen such a thing but we’ll see over time (I have long hair).Weight- she is a heavy little thing but no heavier than most stick vacs and has a good balance while using.Sharp looking vacuum, nice sized attachments, 24 foot cord (that’s awesome btw) lights on the head- thank you! It works well on carpets as well as hard wood floors. It does not run on batteries. It’s corded so you don’t have to worry about the battery running out which is what I wanted. The cord is very long so you can do at least 3 rooms before you have to plug it into another outlet. My favorite thing about this vacuum is that it has a feature that cuts up hair as it picks it up and doesn’t stay on the roller. It’s easy to empty out just push the 2 levers and snap lid back in place. Noise level is a normal vacuum noise not too loud. I like the fact that the head has a swivel and can get into corners easily without any hard pushing. Also, it’s a great price. I think you get good value for your money with this vacuum.”

Customer Review: “This is my third Shark vacuum and there is a reason I keep buying them! They just work, period. My daughter is moving into her own apartment for the first time and wanted the same Shark we already had. It doesn’t seem to still be available so I let her take it with her and got a new one for myself. I do also own a lift away but find it a little too heavy to carry around. The super long hose on this item achieves the same thing and is way easier to use. Assembly was very easy and no tools were needed. All of the components just click into place and probably took two minutes to assemble. I have learned over time that the two included attachments are the only ones I really use and both can be stored right onboard the vacuum. I love that both the foam and felt filters can be rinsed in water and do not need to be repurchased. That being said, I usually buy another set anyway so that I can rinse one set and still be able to use the vacuum while they completely dry out. As for the performance, it works really well. The ability to easily adjust the level of suction right from the handle means that I can go from a throw rug, to an area rug, to a wood floor quickly and easily. The swivel operates flawlessly and makes maneuvering a breeze. And the extension of the hose is great. To reach the ceiling, I don’t have to do any heavy lifting or stretching. The dust bin is quite large and is also easy to release and empty. This particular item might not have a tons of bells and whistles, but it just works. For 95% of my tasks, it’s all I need. And it is a great value! Every single one of my Shark vacuums are still working great, and I’m sure this item is no exception. For the price, it has everything I need and really exceeded my expectations once I used it. I don’t see any reason to spend three or fours times the cost of this item on any other vacuum, when this item does the job. Highly recommended!”
