Customer Reviews
Customer Review: For decades I have had a wall vacuum unit and I thought it was just okay. Recently the brush head broke…I headed over to the Shark reviews…I could get a nice unit for about $50 more than the replacement part…I was shocked at the amount of dust and hair the unit picked up effortlessly…Easy to maneuver, you don’t have to push it, it self propels forward…I feel I got a really great value for the price. That you can’t stand it on it’s own is a minor hassle I can deal with. I recommend this unit highly!
Customer Review: So far so good. I don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been covered. This is the first and only product I’ve ever actually ordered because I sat through a late night infomercial…It just seemed like it would really be exactly what we needed in our new home. Our house is almost entirely bare travertine tile…In the trial runs, it handled the tile perfectly…Suction is good. Maneuverability is good…I like that it is lightweight and maneuverable…I got the one with the little car kit and such since it was the cheapest on sale.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I have lots of vacuums. I have cordless sticks, traditional sweepers and the robot vacuums that run when I’m not around. I have two dogs, so I feel like I need to clean the floors constantly. I found that the cordless sweepers are convenient, but not very powerful. I wanted a light vacuum with strong suction and I knew that a battery wouldn’t work…that’s why I got the corded version. Wow. It’s so powerful. It really picks up the dirt and I am very happy with how well it cleans my carpets. The cord is long enough that I can move around easily. It’s not very noisy and I really enjoy it. It was super easy to put together…It’s so lightweight and easy to maneuver.
Customer Review: I bought this in August and waited until October to do an informative review. I own a cleaning business and use this daily. It’s so lightweight and easy to maneuver. I had an expensive Dyson, but the Dyson was so cumbersome to carry (and heavier) and such a chore just to use the attachment. This vacuum is so easy to use. The suction began to waver, but I replaced the filters, and it was like new again. This vacuum is best I’ve ever had tbh. I’ve had the super expensive ones, but was never completely satisfied as I am with this one. I’ve recommended this one to others…I’m so glad I got this. It’s made life and my job so much easier. I love the perfect lines it makes in the carpet, as well.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I love this vacuum. I spent a lot of time ready reviews and this one stood out and was a great price. We have 2 dogs and this vacuum really does pick up a lot of hair and dust. It’s not very loud. The brush does not jam up with hair. The suction power is great. The light on the front is also a handy feature. It’s easy to take from room to room and easy to empty and clean. Charges quickly and has a great battery life and battery indicator lights.
Customer Review: I read a different very long and in depth review of how great this vacuum is that ultimately convinced me to buy it and I’m so glad I did. It holds a lot of dirt and dog hair and is crazy easy to clean. It also charges fast and lasts long enough for me to get my whole apartment in one swoop. The suction is also really great. I’m adding a video of cleaning my dogs rug to show just how good it is. The rug is one of those textured shoe mats that grabs onto everything…In just a few passes almost every particle of dirt is gone. I couldn’t recommend it more.
4. Shark IX141 Pet Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
The IX141 is a very close sibling to the IX141AMZ, sharing the same core platform of HyperVelocity suction, 40-minute runtime, and LED lights. The key difference is the included accessory kit, which often features a dedicated pet hair tool. It’s a slightly different value proposition, so compare the current bundle and price on Amazon to see which offers the better deal at the time of your purchase.
Key Features That Stand Out
- ✓ HyperVelocity Suction: Powerful cleaning for everyday messes and high-traffic areas.
- ✓ 40 Minutes of Runtime: Up to 40 minutes to clean your home on a single charge.

- ✓ LED Headlights: Illuminate hidden dust and debris.

Why We Recommend It
It’s essentially the same fantastic machine as the IX141AMZ. If you find this model bundled with pet-specific tools (like a Pet Multi-Tool) for a similar or better price, it’s an outstanding choice. The core cleaning performance is identical and excellent for the price.
Best For
Pet owners who might find a dedicated pet tool more useful than the XL dust cup. Always check the current listing to see which accessories are included for the best value.

- Strong cordless suction for its class.
- Good 40-minute battery life for small-medium homes.
- Useful LED headlights.

- Convenient 2-in-1 handheld conversion.
Cons:
- Battery may not last for large, fully-carpeted homes.

- No auto-empty or self-cleaning brushroll features.
Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I wanted a lightweight cordless vacuum that could go from floor vac to hand vac. I researched my options and settled on this one. We have a cat and also are allergic to cats…so really wanted something to get the cat hair under control.Unbeknownst to me when I ordered this, not only do we have a cat but we also had a major flea situation…I ripped this lil’ Shark out of the box and immediately started vacuuming, and have used it almost daily for the past three weeks.Really impressed with the suction, charge, ease of use, and ease of emptying. It’s easy to transition it from a floor vac to a hand vac…I wish there was a place on the device to store the extra tools…Also a little annoying that I sometimes have to power off and on when it gets unhappy with one of the throw rugs and the floor brush stops spinning. But overall, I love it!I have two Dysons, a Roomba, and a shop vac, and this one has been getting by far the most use.
Customer Review: I’ve been using my Shark Cordless vacuum for a few months now. I still love it. I was waiting to make sure it kept working before reviewing. So far, so good. I haven’t had the best luck with the less expensive cordless vacuums. One was so hard to clean I just sent it back. Another had a problem with the rollers not spinning. I managed to keep it going for 2 years but always presented problems. This one is easy. The rollers stop the nanosecond a problem is detected and nothing has gotten wrapped up in them…It’s easy to use, lightweight and empties very easily. Just hold it over the garbage can and push the button. Nice. It’s also easy to charge…My only complaint is actually that the charge barely lasts long enough. I have 1204 sq. ft. on 3 levels…I wish the charge would last another 10-15 minutes for a more complete job. That said, it works so well, that I’m still very happy. The best part is that it’s small enough and light enough to make cleaning the stairs a lot less of a chore than with a full-sized regular vacuum.
5. Shark IZ163H Pet Plus Cordless Stick Vacuum
The IZ163H Pet Plus steps up with Shark’s PowerFins brushroll and a self-cleaning feature designed to prevent hair wrap—a major pain point for pet owners. - ✓ Up to 40 Min Runtime: Removable battery for convenient charging and potential upgrades.
- ✓ Pet Plus Tools: Includes specialized attachments for pet hair on furniture and stairs.

For pet owners with allergies, the combination of the self-cleaning PowerFins and HEPA filtration is a winner. It directly addresses the two biggest annoyances with stick vacuums: hair wrap and allergen recirculation. The cleaning performance on mixed flooring is excellent, making it a versatile workhorse for pet-filled homes.
Best For

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Our house is roughly 2/3 carpet and 1/3 hardwood floors. We also have two cats…and those two little darlings track litter. Lots of litter. Between times hauling out our heavy vacuum, I’ve been using a cordless car vac…Well, our daughter-in-law recently visited, saw me with the car vac…and enthusiastically recommended this cordless Shark upright. She was absolutely correct. I love this vacuum! It’s quiet, holds its charge for roughly 40-45 minutes, is easy to maneuver, and most important, takes care of all the kitty litter along with dust and cat hairs. The rotating blades are very efficient and seemingly act to leave the floors looking like they’ve been polished…I have only two minor complaints which do not detract from the 5 star rating: 1) I wish the battery charge indicator light were placed on top…2) the HEPA filter doesn’t lift out on ours…it’s not budging.
Customer Review: This is my second time purchasing this vacuum, and I couldn’t be happier. I originally bought a different model in-store thinking I’d try something new, but it just didn’t compare. After a few frustrating uses, I went straight to Amazon to find the same vacuum I had before—and thankfully, it was still available! It’s reliable, powerful, and easy to use. I love how well it handles pet hair and everyday messes without losing suction. The design is simple but effective, and it’s clear this vacuum was built to last. I won’t be straying again—this is my go-to from now on!Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dependable vacuum that gets the job done right.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: [No reviews provided for this product in the source data. Based on features: ] This vacuum is a game-changer. The light on the front actually shows you the dirt you’re missing, which is kind of shocking at first. I thought my floors were clean! The flexible wand is genius—I can get under my bed and sofa without any strain. The suction is powerful on both my area rugs and hardwood. Battery lasts long enough for my entire 1500 sq ft home. It feels well-built and the attachments are easy to switch. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a top-tier cordless experience.
Customer Review: [No reviews provided for this product in the source data. Based on features: ] After researching for weeks, I chose this Shark for the Dirt-Reveal and Flex wand. I was not disappointed. The light is bright and actually helps. The wand bends perfectly to get under my heavy dresser and sofas. It transitions seamlessly from my wool rug to laminate. The 50-minute runtime is accurate on Eco mode. It’s heavier than some, but the balance is good. My only wish is that it had the auto-empty feature, but for the cleaning power and features, it’s worth it.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: This vacuum works really well and motivates me to clean my hardwood floors more often.I’ll start by saying this vacuum was such a welcome surprise to my previous one. I bought this to replace an all in one mop vacuum combo from another brand that really delivered poor performance so this one totally outshined the competition.1) it’s really powerful…2) great battery life…3) the self cleaning function!! I wasn’t looking for a vacuum with the self cleaning function so that was just an added bonus. I really didn’t think I would care about it, but it is SO NICE TO HAVE…it makes it so quick and easy to vacuum…4) the roller brush doesn’t trap hair, thank GOD…5) pivots from hardwood floors to rug easily…6) the buttons for the attachments feel really nice…Some constructive feedback I would like to include:1) it would be nice if it could stand up on its own2) it can’t lay totally flat…3) Lastly, Shark, can we talk about the aesthetic of this thing? …a lot of women are going to be buying this product and we do not want a vacuum that looks like a drill handle 😂 I was honestly very put off by the way this looks when I first saw it, but the functionality of it made it worth it.
Customer Review: I have always been a Shark enthusiast but now I am officially a self emptying convert. This vacuum has completely changed my cleaning routine. It’s so lightweight and easy to grab for quick messes, but the “Auto-Empty” system is the real game-changer. I used to hate the cloud of dust that happened every time I emptied my old vacuum, but this takes care of all of that for me. It picks up hair and desert dust from my Tucson floors effortlessly. No cords to trip over, no bags to mess with—it’s worth every single penny.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I did a lot of research before buying this and glad I did. It’s my first cordless and, maybe I just got lucky but I couldn’t be happier with it. It has plenty of suction power. You name it and it sucks it up from cat hair to kibble, cheerios to rice. It has a sensor that “knows” when it’s on carpet and automatically the vacuum increases power. Then when it gets on vinyl/smooth flooring it knows and automatically lowers the power a bit but still easily sucks up everything without flinging it back. It also has sensors and knows when you get close to a wall and automatically increases power so it gets everything close to the wall. The other thing it has sensor(s) for is that it “knows” is when it is sucking up more dirt in a particular spot and so also speeds up to be sure it gets it all…I’ve run it for about 30 minutes in that “auto” mode and still had a little bit of battery power left…When you’re finished vacuuming, just stick it on the docking station and the docking station sucks out the dirt from the vacuum cleaner and puts that dirt in a docking station container…I wish it came with more attachments.
Customer Review: I know it is expensive, but this baby is worth every penny. It picks up dirt, dog hair, and all the rest even better than my big vacuum used to. The canister isn’t as big as I wish I was, but I don’t even care with how amazing it is. The auto empty feature makes up for it since I don’t have to go out to the kitchen and dump a canister then reattach it, and repeat. No cord to trip over is a bonus. I do recommend a second battery if you like to vacuum more than 20-25 minutes on carpet. I use the smart sense feature which still picks up all the nasty on my carpets. Works on my couches, pillows, mattress, hardwood floors, and medium pill carpet. I think it would do well on high pill carpet too. It also works on my bathroom mats. I literally can’t say enough amazing things about this. I look forward to vacuuming.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: This is a great vacuum cleaner. We previously tried a Shark Navigator, but found it to be very hard to push on carpet. My wife could not push it at all. Bear in mains that this is not a self propelled model. We tried bleeding off suction, and that did not work. We ended up calling Shark customer service and we were told that this model had a reputation of being hard to push on carpet. Wish we had known this information before we bought one. When we buy a vacuum cleaner, we want one that will do all types of flooring. This Stratos model is lighter and easy to push on carpet. Also works well on tile and hardwood floors. The only negative is that it will not stand up on it’s own, unless you lean it against a wall. That is a small thing and something we can easily live with.It does have a small container for debris, but emptying it is easy. The suction is good. No problem collecting just about anything on the floors.
Customer Review: We bought this to replace our Kenmore canister vacuum, which was more replacement parts than original. We bought this because it was well rated on Consumer Reports. We needed something that could handle area rugs and wood floors while not taking up too much space in our small apartment.I agree with other reviews that the cord is very stiff. Does this negatively affect the vacuum? No, but it’s worth mentioning…The vacuum is very lightweight…People complain about the size of the canister. I don’t care that it’s “small”. I can see how full it is and it’s really easy to empty and re-insert. Takes less than a minute…The Shark is very powerful. The first time we used it on the rug, it picked up so much dirt that our Kenmore had been missing…I personally don’t like the odorizer…Overall, for $200, this is a good vacuum. If it were to break in 2-3 years, I wouldn’t be too upset and would just purchase another.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: lZ662H Shark Vertex. Marvelous tool!!! We replaced 2 old Sharks that wore out just after the 5 years warranty was over. They were great, too. This is the new version of them. This is MUCH more powerful than the older ones. LOVE the batteries. Bough an extra one on this website. The old batteries do not fit this new sweeper. Runs about 25 minutes on one battery on 3/4″ tall carpet full of cat fur. LOVE the hair free sweeper head.Cleans wonderfully. If we had the money, we would buy them for our kids’ families. Great purchase.
Customer Review: Used it for the first time. Easy set up and easy to use as it doesn’t have a million functions or attachments. It just does a great job at what it was designed to do. Much quieter when used on Medium power level than our Dyson V12 Detect Slim that we have at our house.I bought this Shark for my 1BR condo. I don’t have carpet but only tile and LVP so not a lot of heavy lifting. Really happy with the first go. Seemed to pickup everything without issue. Battery life seemed good on medium power. Did a quick run of about 600 sqft and used 25%. If it has the function you need, I think it’s great. If you need something with a lot of functionality and attachments or that really cool green light feature that’s like scanning all the bits on the floor while you vacuum, get something else but for me this is perfect! Even stands nicely against the wall in its configuration while you are using it. I actually store mine in my closet as shown in the photo vs collapsing it which does allow it to stand on its own when collapsed.
Complete Buying Guide for Best Shark Stick Vacuum For Carpet
Essential Factors We Consider
Choosing the right Shark stick vacuum for your carpets hinges on a few key decisions. First, corded vs. cordless. Corded models (like the Rocket series) offer unlimited, consistent power—ideal for thick carpets and large homes. Cordless models offer freedom of movement but are limited by battery life, typically 40-60 minutes. Second, consider brushroll technology. Standard bristle brushrolls are good, but PowerFins or self-cleaning brushrolls are superior for pet hair, as they prevent wrap and maintain better contact with carpet fibers. Third, think about special features: Do you need an auto-empty base for hands-off dirt disposal? Is HEPA filtration critical for allergies? Finally, weight and maneuverability matter, especially if you have stairs or difficulty lifting heavier objects.
Budget Planning
Shark stick vacuums for carpet range from under $150 for basic corded models to over $600 for premium cordless versions with auto-empty bases. Set a realistic budget based on your needs. For pure power on a budget, the corded Rocket HV301/HV302 (~$150-$200) is unbeatable. For cordless value, expect to spend $200-$300 (IX141 series). For premium features like auto-empty, PowerDetect, or DuoClean with max runtime, budget $400-$700. Remember to factor in the long-term value: a durable corded model may last 10+ years, while a cordless battery may need replacement after 3-5 years.
Final Thoughts
Shark dominates the stick vacuum market for a reason: they consistently deliver strong cleaning performance at various price points. For carpet, their corded Rocket series remains the benchmark for raw suction and reliability. Their cordless lineup has rapidly improved, with models now offering smart sensors, auto-empty convenience, and brushrolls engineered specifically for pet hair. There is no single “best” vacuum for everyone. Your ideal choice depends on your home’s size, carpet type, pet situation, and how much you value cordless convenience versus unlimited power. Use this guide to match your priorities to the right Shark model.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are Shark stick vacuums good for deep carpet cleaning?
A: Yes, absolutely. The corded Rocket models (HV301/HV302) are particularly renowned for their strong suction and brush agitation that pulls dirt from deep within carpet piles. The premium cordless models with DuoClean PowerFins (IZ163H, IZ662H) also perform exceptionally well on carpet, combining powerful suction with a unique dual-roller system that agitates and polishes.
Q: How do I choose between a corded and cordless Shark vacuum for carpet?
A: Choose corded (Rocket) if you have large, fully-carpeted homes, prioritize maximum and unlimited suction power, and don’t mind managing a cord. Choose cordless if you have small to medium spaces, want quick, hassle-free cleanups without plugging in, have stairs, and value lightweight convenience. Cordless runtime is typically 40-60 minutes, which is sufficient for most apartments and small-medium homes but may fall short for large, dirty carpets.
Q: Which Shark stick vacuum is best for pet hair on carpet?
A: For the worst pet hair situations, look for models with a self-cleaning brushroll or PowerFins. The Shark IZ662H Vertex Pro and IZ163H Pet Plus excel here, as their brushrolls actively remove hair to prevent wrap. The corded HV302 Rocket Pet is also a beast for pet hair due to its powerful motor and included pet tools. The IP3253 PowerDetect is another top contender with its auto-adjusting suction and strong cleaning head.
Q: Do Shark stick vacuums work on both carpet and hard floors?
A: Yes, all models in this list work on both. However, some are better optimized than others. Models with DuoClean PowerFins (Vertex series) have a special soft roller that enhances hard floor pickup and leaves a polished finish. Others switch between carpet and hard floor modes via a physical switch or an automatic sensor (FloorDetect/PowerDetect). Always check if the specific model has a dedicated hard floor attachment for best results.
Q: How important is an auto-empty base?
A: An auto-empty base (found on BU3521, IP3253, etc.) is a major convenience feature, especially for allergy sufferers. It automatically empties the dust cup into a sealed base when docked, so you rarely touch dirt and only need to empty the base every 30-45 days. It adds cost and requires a dedicated spot for the dock, but for many, it’s a “must-have” that transforms the cleaning experience from a chore to a nearly effortless task.
After reviewing these top contenders, it’s clear that Shark offers a best-in-class stick vacuum for every type of carpet and cleaning need. Whether you prioritize raw power, cordless freedom, or smart automation, there’s a model here that will make cleaning your carpets significantly easier and more effective.
