I thought the water tank was a little small but it’s actually is big enough for my entire floors. You also don’t have to push it to get the steam out which is nice. Customer Review: “I gave 4 stars as Shark Steamer mop S1000 is a good product. My last one was the purple steam mop and lasted 15 years. It was used at least once a week on all floors and for mess. It has the power steam and wipe the dirt away. Fast and easy. I have sealed hard wood floors, lots of tile, have always had two large dogs and one messy spouse who seams to drop everything on the kitchen floor, and brings in mud. (The dogs are cleaner). Needless to say, it gets good use. Fill the tank, wait as instructions say 2-3 minutes, you will hear the steam and it ready. I like the washable pads and ordered six extra to have them on had. The last was you had to fill the tank, not removable. This new one has a removable tank which I like the idea. Easy to dump out any water remain to let dry. However, maybe because it’s new, I find the tank is a bit hard to remove, the instructions say to pull up and out. You have to just pull out. The button under the tank on the machine its self does push in to allow the tank to snap back into place, but to remove it takes a little figure power to pull out. It needs a tank release button to make easier for arthritis hands. But I am still sticking with this machine and brand, hope it does me just as well as the last one.”

Customer Review: “don’t normally write reviews but Ohh My! great performance! especially for the price. I can’t afford to buy a wicked expensive professional high end steamer, so went for this. I did 4 rooms rinsing/hand washing the pad in between rooms. time consuming for first run but wanted to do it right as the directions instructed. tip.. take yr time with patience. a small area at a time, moving the mop slow, pumping the handle for good steam. as instructed go over the area numerous times (per directions 15 strokes), slowly. I broke it down to smaller patches of floor at a time. took a lot of breaks so I had patience. after the steam cleaning I mopped all the floors with my swiffer (reusable cloth pad) n pine sol to test how dirty the swiffer pad got as opposed to normally. huge difference! barely dirty swiffer pad, indicating the steam mop did the job. tested out barefoot & my floors feel soo smoothe n clean! also my house is high traffic from people and PETS. even with cleaning regularly the mop pad got verry dirty, i know it took a lot of dirt off the floors that normal cleaning just dont achieve. made a HUGE differences to crevices & edges where grime builds up. note: over time the floors will get even cleaner, can’t expect perfection one round with built up dirt that hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned by normal mopping. as time goes by can probably lighten up with the time spent & the repetitions.is plastic but thats a great thing, is light making it very easy to keep going! Just be careful not to bang it up or toss it around. reaches under furniture items great! manuevers with ease in all directions. wish the water reservoir was bigger had to refill several times, however as I said I took my time going over all areas numerous times, pumping out lots of steam. I have laminate and tile at home and using the shark steam mop is so easy to use and it’s self propelling feature makes it lightweight and a joy to use. Yes… a joy! I love cleaning my floors! I do not heavy dirt in my home… no shoes in the house, no pets or kids dropping food so I can’t speak if it is good on heavy duty dirt. I also tried it on my very tight woven burber carpet for mild surface dirt/spot cleaning and it worked amazing on the carpet too. If you have heavy dirt, buy a proper carpet cleaner. Customer Review: “I thought about getting a steam mop for my sealed bamboo floors for months before finally biting the bullet and getting this. I was worried about it maybe damaging the floors or not cleaning all that well, but so far I am really happy with my purchase. We’ve had our floors for five years. I have been cleaning them with a spray bottle with a white vinegar and water solution and a microfiber mop, but as time has passed, it felt more and more like they just were not getting clean. I could wipe the floor with a damp paper towel right after mopping it and have it come up black, yuck. The first couple of times I used this, it did leave some swirl marks, but each time I use it (had it for over a month, mop about once a week), it seems to take off more of the built-up soil, and the floors now look very clean and stay that way longer. I think you need to use it slowly, not try to rush it along. I refill the water container maybe once while cleaning my 1600 square-foot house, but that is because I have carpet in the bedrooms and rugs in two rooms. I went through more refills one time when I tried to do the majority of the hardwood floor by moving rugs and furniture, but that is not a weekly effort. This does not get my floor any wetter than the spray bottle and microfiber mop did. The steamed floors seem to dry faster, so I have no concerns about damaging the floor with the steam. I think my only complaint at this point is that the cord is not as long as I would like. I have to move it three times when I use it. I wash the pads after every use, so I’ll be ordering a second set of those. I also wipe off the bottom of the steam mop after using it, as it does seem to collect some pet hair. I hope it holds up over time as I really love this and feel like it is a good value.”

I spray ahead of myself with my YL Thieves cleaner, to make everything come up quicker (can you say dog slobber and prints?) The head is narrower than many which I didn’t think I’d like, but makes it nice for getting under chairs, etc. Super easy to clean up after use. Customer Review: “I find it so funny when people do not read the manual, do everything wrong, and leave a bad review because THEY DON’T KNOW how to properly operate the device. This is BY FAR, the best floor cleaning product I have tried. I have tried vacuum robots, corded and cordless vacuums, Swiffers, all sorts of mops and this is the most satisfying product of them all. No need to sweep before cleaning. It sweeps and mops at the same time. Cleaning is SUPER SIMPLE. Just follow the directions! The only cons are the following: • Does not pick up hair very well. Everything else picks up without a problem. • Sweeping motion is slow. Just the nature of sanitizing with steam. This not ideal for a quick sweep. • Not for picking up existing water. Even thou, it will perfectly pickup and clean a small spill, the water reservoir is pretty small, since cleaning with steam does not generate a lot of liquid. Conclusion: This product is the best at deep cleaning your floors effortlessly, however, it DOES NOT replace your mop and vacuum. I will still need those for quick spills or spot sweeps. That being said, it is BY FAR the best floor cleaning device I own.”

I saw a lot of reviews saying it left swirly dirt marks but I think it’s honestly just getting old dirt up that I never could before, so it’s worth it to use this a couple of times for a deep clean, and then just use for maintenance. I’m excited to go over all my floors a few times with this and get them nice and clean. I rent and the floors have really needed a deep clean for a while now. It doesn’t really get corners or nooks/tight spaces very well, but I have baseboards I need to clean anyway so it’s not a big deal for me to get the corners on my own. I have a small place but the water reservoir held enough for me to go over my kitchen and bathroom once, and that was me going pretty slow and keeping the pads in one spot for a while to really scrub. I vacuumed first but it did catch some hair and things that the vacuum missed which was nice. I can easily wash the pads by hand which I prefer rather than putting them in the washing machine. Overall this is a great product for someone that has a small place and no room for a bucket to mop regularly. I’d probably use it if I had a larger house as well but the reservoir might have to be refilled pretty often on your first few cleans. It’s also probably not the hottest steamer out there, I have a handheld one that I think gets a bit hotter. This product is designed for emergency shut off so expect it to turn off if you try to maneuver it into a small space. Personally, it doesn’t bother me because I’d rather it have the safety features and heat control. I don’t think this product necessarily saves more time than using a scrub mop and some elbow grease for a “deep” clean, as you will probably have to go over your floor a few times with it. What I do appreciate about it however is it eliminates the hard work of scrubbing, which gets old fast. Just keep in mind it doesn’t scrub harder than you probably can by hand. I can definitely scrub harder by hand.”

So easy to set up, attach the pads, fill with water, turn it on, and push the head down. Watch it go! heads spin and propel the mop while I steer it. So quick and easy. Floors are clean and sanitized with steam. No harsh chemicals. The only thing that I would change is the length of the cord. For my situation, I need to move the plug to get all areas, but not a big deal.”

Customer Review: “I’ve had my Shark now for over two years and it’s still going strong! I was honestly nervous after receiving my steam mop because it did feel a little flimsy. However, that being said…it would be tiring to use a heavy solid mop that holds added weight in water! We decided to go with the steam for several reasons but first, because my daughter suffers from severe allergies! This mop uses no cleaners and does a much better job than a traditional mop and bucket. I also liked the ‘green’ factor of no cleaner and washable pads. I have washed and reused the cleaning pads too many times to count and not a single one of them is showing any signs of wear!! (not counting some staining of course) Also, one of my daughters accidentally dropped my Shark down the basement stairs and cracked the plastic housing…didn’t effect the mop in the least. It feels no flimsier and hasn’t worsened as I’ve continued using it…and it doesn’t leak. It’s plastic…I don’t blame the mop for breaking when the same daughter dropped my cast iron pan down the same stairs and that also broke 😉 We have finished hardwood floors, laminate floors, tiled floors, Allure floors and oiled pine floors…this mop works wonderfully on every one of them! I’ve used it to remove general dirt and grime, sticky nasties, wax, crayon, marker, paint, wood stove ash residue, unidentifiable kid & pet surprises and numerous food spills all with great success! I have recommended this mop several times and will do so several more times I’m sure! So…after four years of using the daylights out of it I am back to buy a new mop…just an FYI in those four years we have had 8 children, 2 adults, several animals and countless house guests traipsing in and out! I did the research…I read the reviews…I compared prices. For the money…I am buying another Shark Pocket Mop! Things I’ve learned…I originally bought the mop with several heads. I only used the rectangular one. I have an open floor plan so if you have tight spaces the triangular head may work better for you. I didn’t use the carpet attachment either…with my daughter’s allergies we got rid of all our carpeting…which means our entire house is bare, steam-moppable floors…this mop gets USED! Our house is not large…28×26, two and a half levels with moppable floors with a mostly open floor plan. The cord reached every area from one central outlet. **UPDATE** The cord on the new mop is shorter than the old one. I was disappointed, but it still mops the same…only now I have to move the plug to more than one outlet…not a deal-breaker for me** I also never had to buy replacement pads in the four years I’ve owned them! They are no longer white…but they still work beautifully! I occasionally tried the big purple fluffy pad that came with mine but I wasn’t totally thrilled with it…maybe because it took longer to wet enough to clean with…admittedly I just want to get mopped and be done ASAP. If I came across an especially hard spot to get clean I simply (with shoes on!) stepped on the head and applied pressure and steam for several seconds and rarely had anything not come up…even cooled candle wax 🙂 Most other mops don’t look like you could step on the head without damaging it. By far my favorite feature is the reversible mopping surface! I mop half of one level (it actually could do more) then simply flip the mop over to mop the rest with the clean side! LOVE that! No changing scalding hot pads part way through a mop job or waiting for it to cool down enough to change it! I also got one level done on one tank of water with some left over 🙂 AND…even though it said to use distilled water I never did….I used straight well water from the tap…and we have high iron in our water. I am most definitely a fan…especially for a price that’s nearly half of many of the other steam mops out there! I am sorry that some other reviewers did not have the same experience I have had. I understand that this is an electronic appliance. My new one may have a manufacturing flaw that my old one didn’t. You will get that with ANY electronic device…some will be flawless…others DOA. If you like short reviews, my second to last section is pretty much a summary of why I find the Bissell Steam Mop far superior to the Shark Steam Mop. I’ve been trying to write more in-depth, detailed reviews with pictures and videos. On this steam mop, there’s tons of great reviews and videos already and I don’t think I can make one that’s better. I did want to throw my hat in the ring with those who LOVE this steam mop. My review will focus on how much more happy I am with this steam mop than with the Shark Steam Mops I had in the past. ♦I Got a Shark! Our house is about 2100 sq ft and every inch except for the garage and the kitchen area is ceramic tile. The kitchen area is laminate for now (i.e. steam-moppable). I remember thinking, I am never going to scrub these floors on my hands and knees. I was impressed by the infomercial and read many reviews on the Shark. The negative ones mostly mentioned about how the plastic shaft broke by putting too much pressure on it. This didn’t seem too bad to me, so I went ahead and purchased it new for about eighty to a hundred bucks at a local store around the time we moved in about 5 years ago. ♦It Worked Great – Until It Didn’t! I was delighted to find out how well the Shark cleaned the floors and was always careful to be gentle as possible to avoid breaking the plastic. I admit I didn’t 100% understand the difference between distilled and filtered water, so I always used bottled water. I’ll also admit that I am not a clean freak: I clean to relieve stress, for company, or when it’s getting really bad, even by my not-so-high standards. The first Shark lasted for several years of infrequent use. My mother accidentally broke it when cleaning once and replaced it with one from the second-hand store. The one she purchased for me worked for a while. I think I got a third from the second-hand store as well. That one stopped working a few months ago. I tried another two from the thrift but neither worked. At this point, I was just about done with Sharks – I didn’t see any at the second hand store and I wasn’t about to buy another one for full price. A few months ago we had houseguests coming, so I searched on Amazon for several hours and this Bissell appealed to me the most. ♦Hail Mary Pass! Fail. I was about to purchase it but wondered if any of the literally 3-4 Sharks I had in my laundry room could be fixed. I read several articles on the Sharks not working due to being clogged with mineral deposits. I tried the pipe cleaner, the paperclip, and CLR; unfortunately, nothing worked. At this point, I decided to cut my losses and ordered the Bissell. ♦Hello Bissell – Where were you all my life? I was impressed by the Bissell immediately upon taking it out of the box. Here are my thoughts on the differences between the two: •The Bissell is significantly sturdier and of a much higher quality than the Shark. I wish I would have taken side-by-side pictures, but I immediately trashed the Sharks upon using the Bissell for the first time. •The water tank on the Shark is small. It is built into the unit, which is inconvenient when it comes to re-filling. The hole to pour water in is tiny. It’s nice that they provide a tiny funnel, but that’s just something else to store and/or lose and I’d rather have an opening big enough where I didn’t need a funnel. The Bissell tank is much larger. It is removable and the opening is very easy to fill. We can mop so much more of the floor on one Bissell water tank than we could with the Shark. **I am not sure if my other Shark issues were possibly caused by not using distilled water; I want to keep my Bissell for a long time, so I am making it a point to keep several gallons of distilled water on hand for those times when I am in the cleaning mood. •I find that the Bissell cleans just as well as the Shark, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it worked better and allowed me to clean it faster if I was able to do a side-by-side comparison. We haven’t used the scrubby brush yet. •The Bissell stands up by itself; the Shark does not (if not propped against something, it will fall). I am definitely someone who has a tendency to knock things over so I won’t be leaving the Bissell in a room upright for an extended period of time, but I find this very convenient when I am moving from room to room, or refilling the water tank. I may also get motivated one day to leave it running on the floor to try to clean the grout lines. There was no way to do this with the Shark. •My mother was able to find many Shark pads at the second hand store. I still have about ten of them in a container, in hopes that I’ll find a way to be able to use them with the Bissell. Extra Bissell pads are expensive. I purchased a pack of 2 on Amazon, since if the cleaning bug hits me, I don’t want to be forced to wait to finish mopping until after laundering the pads. Customer Review: “After one month of use, Im very satisfied with how well this steam mop cleans the tile floors. I have dogs and I always liked and used Bissell products for years. The first step is to thoroughly vacuum the floors to pick up dust. The steam mop is light and easy to carry. The power cord length is sufficient to clean a larger area. After plugging in the steam mop, it takes about a minute before it’s ready. I use the highest setting and the temperature is reasonably hot. The amount of steam is good and the mop does a thorough job cleaning the floors. The mop pad wraps around all edges of the steam mop so it’s able to clean up to the edge of the baseboards. I can feel the difference walking on the floors. I don’t care or recommend buying the Bissell scent pods. It’s a waste of time. The steam mop does leaves a light moisture on the floor because of the steam but it dries quickly. The mop pad is easy to remove and install. It washes clean in the washer. The mop pad should not be put into the dryer. After washing, I let it dry in the garage. The steam mop is a good value for the money. It does a better cleaning job than the Bissell Croswave. I used the Bissell Croswave and I don’t like it because it always leaves some of dirty water on the floor. I looked at the more expensive Bissell Croswave steam vacuum but I don’t think it’s worth it. Overall, I highly recommend getting the Bissell steam mop.”

Customer Review: “I’m in love with this mop. My husband cooks in the kitchen a lot for friends. I cannot keep up with the cleaning. It’s really hard on my back and energy, so much so that I have to do the kitchen floor across two days. It always was dirty. Stuff was stuck on that I just could not get up without getting down on my hands and knees – but I cannot due to age and health issues. I was using one of those squirt mops. It was so difficult to get anything off, and you’d have to use it immediately after a spill to keep things clean, if you want the easiest cleanup. Then I got this mop. This mop is like using a vacuum across the carpet. It’s that easy. It’s easy on the back, and I can do my floor quickly, even when it was at its dirtiest when I first got the mop. Once it’s assembled, it nearly instant to heat up – very quick. It does make a little noise – don’t be alarmed. Then you’re off to steaming your floor clean, with no chemicals. There’s a medium and high steam setting. I set mine to high because of the stickiness, grease, and messes, but the medium setting works pretty good too. It makes the floor warm and puts out some steam to clean. It’s not hot to walk on. Shoes are suggested, probably because your floor is wet and you can slip. If you wear shoes, make sure they’re anti-skid, and not something like flip-flops. I’m so happy to have a clean and neat kitchen floor now. After my husband was done cooking this week (after he splattered a tray of sticky sauce and half-cleaned it) I went in with this mop and the floor was clean again in no time. My first mop didn’t work properly and I had to send it back. The second one, the water door latch doesn’t close after the first time it was opened.
