Customer Reviews

Customer Review: The reviews were NOT lying OMG! This vacuum suction is amazing, so amazing that you’ll get a great workout while using it lol! It will pick up dirt, pet hair, dust, crumbs, you name it, it’ll grab it! No particles left after you vacuum and turn it off like other vacuums. Super functional but I did notice on my rugs I needed two hands to push it, it’s alot easier on standard carpet. It’s also a lot quieter than your normal vacuum, my downstairs neighbors will be happy as I vacuum often lol. So happy with my purchase! Shark just gained a forever customer.

Customer Review: The SHARK UPRIGHT NAVIGATOR is the BEST vacuum cleaner I have ever purchased! I love the way it lets me navigate all around my furniture, I love that it lets me clean underneath my tables, and I love how POWERFUL the suction is! I thought my fully-carpeted small house was clean when the Navigator arrived, but after one use, the LARGE clear canister on this machine was FULL. The carpet was so much cleaner, and it has a setting for hard floors also. The difference in cleaning was amazing. My old vacuum was okay, but this thing is AMAZING. My allergies can feel the wonderful difference too! And the machine is easy to maneuver, even for a small woman like me. Shipping was SO FAST with Amazon Prime, the seller’s price was great, and I was able to assemble and USE my new Navigator in 2 minutes. I highly recommend this vacuum to everyone! A great house gift to give to anyone, and for yourself! Enjoy 🙂

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I cannot say enough how much I love this vacuum. I had went through a few different vacuums that work amazing at first but then after a month, lose suction. I’ve had this one a few months now and the suction is still strong and works like it’s brand new. It was easy to put together and came with instructions, although you don’t really need them, it’s pretty simple. & it was an amazing deal because this vacuum is normally twice the price everywhere else! It will also last forever which saves money in itself because you won’t have to keep purchasing a new vacuum every year. The suction is just as strong as the day I bought it, it picks up dirt and everything else with ease. I own a cleaning company and use this for the company as well as at home and have had zero issues. If you’re looking for a good, quality vacuum- this is the one to get!

Customer Review: We have had the Shark Navigator for so years or so. It is still running fine but we moved it upstairs to not have to be carrying one u and down to clean. The new one is better than the basic model we had. It has unbelievable suction and clean wonderfully. It is a bit harder to move and is a bit noisier. Perhaps because it is so new and needs to break in. I think the noise is from the self cleaning on the roller. However with two dogs and long haired women it is worth it. Highly recommend. I have had Dyson, Kirby, Electrolux and Sears over the years and NONE of them come close.

3. Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Upright Vacuum with Large Dust Cup, HEPA Filter, Swivel Steering, Upholstery & Crevice Tools for Carpets & Hard Floors

Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe Upright Vacuum with Large Dust Cup, H

The “Deluxe” moniker here mostly refers to the extra-large dust cup capacity. This is the same powerful Shark Navigator platform with HEPA filtration and swivel steering, but it lets you clean for longer before emptying. It’s a practical upgrade for larger homes or anyone who dislikes frequent stops. It offers the core Shark performance at a price that often undercuts competitors with similar specs.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Lift-Away Functionality: Detachable pod for above-floor cleaning.
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal + HEPA: Traps dust and allergens inside.
  • Swivel Steering: Easy to steer around obstacles.
  • Powerful Multi-Surface Suction: Effective on both carpets and hard floors.

Why We Recommend It

If you want the proven Shark Navigator cleaning system but hate emptying the bin every few rooms, the Deluxe model is the answer. The larger dust cup is the only major difference, and it’s a hugely practical one that improves cleaning flow. You’re getting more of a good thing without a major price hike.

Best For

Owners of larger homes (2000+ sq ft), people with pets who shed a lot, and anyone who values fewer interruptions during a cleaning session.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Extra-large dust cup means less frequent emptying.
  • All the core Shark Navigator strengths: strong suction, HEPA seal, swivel steering.
  • Excellent value for the increased capacity.
  • Lift-Away mode remains just as functional.
Cons:
  • The larger dust cup adds a tiny amount of weight when full.
  • Does not have the self-cleaning brushroll (for that, see the ZU561 or B08TT4YHG1).
  • Same cord length considerations as other models.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This is a long one, but it’s worth the read if you’re doing some serious shopping for a vacuum cleaner:I picked this up in October so I’ve been using it for a few months just to get a genuine sense of how this vacuum really performed and I am absolutely impressed! This beats my Dyson AND my Kirby hands down. Superior suction, amazing maneuverability, lighter than either the Kirby or the Dyson. ( If you’re wondering why I own so many vacuums, I clean for a living.) I bought this for the house. I have two cats and a husband who’s into Warhammer so you know there are sprew bits and cat hair everywhere and this thing handles it like a champ! I wasn’t sold on how small the floor attachment was until I used it: I can get underneath my barstools so much easier now and my entire house ( approx. 2000 sq ft.) is done in 20 minutes, tops! There is a learning curve, but that’s something you get with any new vacuum. I was also super impressed by the ease with which I can switch from floor to handheld attachments. Some of these other vacuums I’ve used are so bulky and difficult to handle all the small attachments… Not this one! I’m able to switch back and forth from floor to handheld quick, fast and in a hurry. Bonus points that it’s lightweight. I’m not killing myself just to vacuum my house. It’s really saved my back! And it was so much less expensive than the Dyson or the Kirby. The window on the floor attachment gives me a clear view of the roller brush ( yeah, it makes me accountable which is a good thing. It’s harder to ignore when I can see it so thanks for that, too. ). The cord is a tad short, so I went ahead a bought a small extension cord to go with it, but other than that, I’m very impressed! I wish I had bought this years ago. I will never buy another vacuum from anyone else other than Shark again. Good job, guys! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious little vacuum.

Customer Review: I picked up this Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum to replace an older one, and it’s been a big improvement. The suction is strong and does a great job picking up dirt, dust, and pet hair from both carpets and hard floors. One feature I really like is the Lift-Away option, which makes it much easier to clean stairs and tighter spaces without dragging the whole vacuum around. It’s also pretty lightweight and easy to maneuver around furniture. Emptying the dust bin is simple and not messy, which is always a plus.Overall, it’s a reliable vacuum that cleans well and is easy to use throughout the house. Definitely a solid choice if you want something powerful without being overly heavy or complicated.

4. Shark NV352 Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with HEPA Filter, Anti-Allergen Technology, Swivel Steering, Upholstery & Crevice Tools for Carpets, Stairs & Bare Floors

Shark NV352 Navigator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with HEPA Filter, Anti-

The NV352 is a specific, popular model number within the Navigator family. It represents the standard-bearer for the Lift-Away design with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal. It’s essentially the core package: powerful suction, HEPA filtration, swivel steering, and the transformative Lift-Away pod. It’s a fantastic all-around performer that often appears at a sweet spot in pricing, making it a perennial best-seller.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Lift-Away Detachable Pod: The defining feature for versatile cleaning.
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology + HEPA: Traps 99.9% of dust and allergens.
  • Swivel Steering: For effortless navigation.
  • 3-position brushroll switch: Off, carpet, and bare floor settings.
  • Upholstery & Crevice Tools onboard: Always within reach.

Why We Recommend It

It’s the pure, unadulterated Shark Navigator formula that made the line famous. If you want the proven performance without paying for the “Deluxe” larger bin or the “Self-Cleaning” brushroll upgrade, the NV352 is your efficient, no-nonsense workhorse. It consistently receives high marks for delivering the core experience at a fair price.

Best For

Shoppers who want the essential Shark Navigator Lift-Away experience with HEPA filtration. Perfect for medium-sized homes with a mix of floor types who prioritize proven performance over specialized upgrades.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Excellent core cleaning performance on all surfaces.
  • True HEPA allergen sealing.
  • Lift-Away pod is incredibly useful and well-designed.
  • Swivel steering makes it easy to handle.
  • Often available at a competitive price point.
Cons:
  • Does not have the self-cleaning brushroll for pet hair.
  • Dust cup is standard size, not XL (like the B00JH98GR4 model).
  • No major flaws, but lacks the “premium” upgrades of higher-tier models.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Warning, it’s a long read, but I wanted to go into deep detail. To start, I have been a Rainbow vacuum user for so long. I love them and felt they worked amazingly.Next, I have 3 dogs & a cat. One is a thick coat lab and the cat sheds so much as well.Another next, I have horrible allergies and wanted something that would help keep them calm as well. I also have a lung disease and need something that will pick up as much junk as possible to keep them clear. Now, on to the Shark vacuum.I got tired of lugging around the Rainbow and wanted to look into a vacuum that my daughter could use and help out.I found this Shark vacuum and 6 others that grabbed my attention.I dug deep. I read through every review, good, bad, indifferent.I wanted a vacuum that was going to truly pick up pet hair/dander, as well as pick up sand & dirt.I was drawn to this specific vacuum saying pet & allergen vacuum and loved that so many of the reviews said it had amazing suction power.I thought there’s no way ut can be as amazing as most were raving about. After 2 months of digging and narrowing down vacuums, I was left with this one. I finally decided to purchase it and see what all the fuss was about. It came in today and I immediately out it together to the it out.I had just vacuumed with my Rainbow vacuum 2 days before, so I didn’t expect much.Oh….my….gosh…! I am blown away! Seriously, no joke! The picture you see attached was after 2 passes over a 2′ x 2′ area in my living room. Not kidding…pushed it forward, pulled it back. Did this one other time. I was completely astonished! There is no way my carpet is that dirty after using my Rainbow 2 days before! I swore by that vacuum and how great of a job it did, so I thought. This vacuum pulled out dirt, sand, pet fur from 3 families ago, it seems lol.I immediately took this picture and dumped the resivoir since it was full.I was excited to finish the rest of my living room and then move on to the rest of the house. It took me 30 minutes to vacuum my living room because I had to keep stopping to empty the reservoir. I am grossed out that it was that dirty, but so grateful that I purchased this Shark vacuum. The vacuum is super easy to put together. It’s not heavy and is easy to use.I love that it has the large vacuum and the option to break it down to a hand held vacuum to get baseboards and hard to reach areas.I also love that the power switch has 3 positions; Off, Bare floor, and carpet.I love that there is a place on the vacuum for hose attachments.I love that the power cable is quite long.I love that it’s compact enough to fit in my coat closet, but large enough to vacuum the living room quicker than the sport vacuum. It makes vacuuming a breeze. The price is amazing for being a Shark vacuum. This vacuum is so amazing that I finished vacuuming, rinsed the resivoir and filter, put it away, and immediately sat down to write this review.Seriously give this vacuum a try!Your only regret is that you didn’t get it sooner.I will update this review if anything changes.I am convinced this is the perfect vacuum.

Customer Review: I’ve been using a Shark cordless for a few years, but had to reconcile to the fact that with pets, the suction and ability to get all the dirt and pet hair is just not quite enough. Broke down and bought this Shark corded vacuum and O.M.G!!! Day and night difference, and the suction on this one is fierce! I was shocked at what it collected on my first go around. I love Shark products, and I’ll hang onto the cordless for small, quick vacuum needs, but for deep cleaning? This one is unreal! I feel like my house is so much cleaner. Easy to put together, not hard to push, easy to keep clean. Im a fan!!

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I buy these every couple years for our very old Shark NV60. It’s a great vacuum with amazing suction as long as the filters are clean so there’s no reason to replace it. We did buy the newer model a few years ago but it wasn’t as good so took it back and bought a new main hose for this one. Works just as good as new & saved us over $200!These filters don’t last as long as the name brand but they are less expensive in the long run, plus it’s getting harder to find these in the name brand version. Last I looked they were $32 for one set of pre-filers and the HEPA filter (had to purchase separately. The Shark brand can be washed at least 20x before replacement pre-filters are needed. These get about 10-12 washes before they start ripping, that’s twice as much at less than 1/2 the price each filter, so worth it.To make sure a vacuum performs well it’s important to keep the pre-filters clean. A rinse every week or so works well and a good wash with soap once a month keeps the vacuum performing as it should. I vacuum approximately 1k sq ft daily and on weekend do all the carpeted areas (1,900 sq ft) in our home. For those who vacuum less or more will require a different frequency. Having a second set of filters is nice to have while the others dry after being washed. It’s best to put them in direct sunlight, flipping them a couple times, to kill any unwanted bacteria that may cause bad smells. This isn’t possible in winters so I’ll dry in a sunny window and place the bags in a zipper bag with as much air squeezed out at possible and put them in the freezer for a few weeks. So far this has eliminated any lingering odors (it also kills dust mites and eggs due to a lack of air).Unfortunately the HEPA filters cannot be washed for either name brand or generic without losing most of the benefits. I do rinse the name brand ones once before replacing due to the cost so I was buying them 1x a year or so. This is a much better deal so I just replace the HEPA filter every 6-8 months and will buy a new 2 pack alone since I don’t need the pre-filters as often. This has definitely helped with allergies! Wish they came with 2 more HEPA filters to balance it out, but it’s no big to order new HEPA filters as needed.Overall a good buy, with the exception of the added waste that I’ve been trying to avoid. That’s the only reason for three stars, otherwise it’d be a solid four stars. There is no way to recycle these either. They aren’t mind blowing amazing, but they work well and are cheap enough.

Customer Review: Great value, replacing these made my vacuum like new!

6. Shark NV151 Navigator Swivel Pro Complete Upright Vacuum with HEPA Filtration, Swivel Steering, Pet Power Brush, Crevice & Upholstery Tools for Pet Hair & Multi-Surface

Shark NV151 Navigator Swivel Pro Complete Upright Vacuum with HEPA Fil

The NV151 “Swivel Pro” focuses on enhanced maneuverability and onboard tool storage. It has the same powerful suction and Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filter as other Navigators. The key difference is an even more agile swivel steering mechanism and a design that keeps all tools neatly attached to the body. It’s a streamlined, user-friendly package that’s a breeze to push and store.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Enhanced Swivel Steering: Extremely easy to pivot and turn in tight spaces.
  • Onboard Tool Storage: All attachments click onto the vacuum for quick access.
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal + HEPA: Traps 99.9% of dust and allergens.
  • Pet Power Brush: Effective tool for furniture and upholstery.
  • Adjustable Suction Control: Dial on the handle to reduce suction for delicate rugs or curtains.

Why We Recommend It

If ease of movement and convenience are top priorities, the Swivel Pro excels. The steering is noticeably fluid, and having tools always attached eliminates the “where did I put that?” problem. It’s a fantastic, hassle-free package that doesn’t compromise on the core Shark cleaning power.

Best For

Homes with lots of furniture and tight corners, people who dislike bending over to grab tools, and anyone who wants the simplest, most agile Shark Navigator experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Outstanding maneuverability with enhanced swivel steering.
  • Convenient onboard tool storage.
  • Strong suction with effective HEPA allergen sealing.
  • Adjustable suction is handy for delicate surfaces.
  • Washable filters (foam and felt) reduce long-term cost.
Cons:
  • Does not have Lift-Away functionality (the pod does not detach).
  • No self-cleaning brushroll for pet hair.
  • The hose is not as long as on the Lift-Away models for above-floor reach.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I’ve now had this vacuum for a year, it is so well worth the money. I switched from my Dyson to this shark model. It’s easy to use, it’s easy to clean. The suction is the best I’ve ever seen in a vaccum. It’s lightweight. Lots of length to use attachments. The scent boosters work great. I can see where if I had dogs this would be great for the smell. The scent boosters also have levels you can set . I have cats and it collects the hair like no other vacuum. For noise level, I don’t think it’s loud. The quality of this baby is made built to last! I will never buy anything other vacuum. My only con is I wish I did this so much sooner!

Customer Review: This is my third Shark vacuum and there is a reason I keep buying them! They just work, period. My daughter is moving into her own apartment for the first time and wanted the same Shark we already had. It doesn’t seem to still be available so I let her take it with her and got a new one for myself. I do also own a lift away but find it a little too heavy to carry around. The super long hose on this item achieves the same thing and is way easier to use. Assembly was very easy and no tools were needed. All of the components just click into place and probably took two minutes to assemble. I have learned over time that the two included attachments are the only ones I really use and both can be stored right onboard the vacuum. I love that both the foam and felt filters can be rinsed in water and do not need to be repurchased. That being said, I usually buy another set anyway so that I can rinse one set and still be able to use the vacuum while they completely dry out. As for the performance, it works really well. The ability to easily adjust the level of suction right from the handle means that I can go from a throw rug, to an area rug, to a wood floor quickly and easily. The swivel operates flawlessly and makes maneuvering a breeze. And the extension of the hose is great. To reach the ceiling, I don’t have to do any heavy lifting or stretching. The dust bin is quite large and is also easy to release and empty. This particular item might not have a tons of bells and whistles, but it just works. For 95% of my tasks, it’s all I need. And it is a great value! Every single one of my Shark vacuums are still working great, and I’m sure this item is no exception. For the price, it has everything I need and really exceeded my expectations once I used it. I don’t see any reason to spend three or fours times the cost of this item on any other vacuum, when this item does the job. Highly recommended!

For the price, it has everything I need and really exceeded my expectations once I used it. I don’t see any reason to spend three or fours times the cost of this item on any other vacuum, when this item does the job. Highly recommended!

8. Shark POWERDETECT Upright Vacuum AZ4002

Shark POWERDETECT Upright Vacuum with HEPA Filter, DuoClean Technology

This is Shark’s flagship “POWERDETECT” model, representing the top of their upright line. It features DuoClean Detect Technology with two brushrolls and Intelli-Sense sensors that automatically detect and react to embedded dirt and debris, boosting suction on the spot. It also has a Powered Lift-Away (the pod motorized when detached). It’s the most advanced, sensor-driven Shark, designed for the absolute deepest clean on carpets.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • DuoClean Detect Technology: Two brushrolls + sensors auto-detect and boost suction for hidden dirt.
  • Powered Lift-Away: The detachable pod has its own motor for powerful above-floor cleaning.
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal + HEPA: 99.9% dust and allergen capture.
  • Self-Cleaning Brushroll: No hair wrap.
  • LED Headlights: Illuminate dark corners and under furniture.

Why We Recommend It

For the person who wants “set it and forget it” intelligence and the most powerful clean Shark offers, the POWERDETECT is it. The sensor-driven suction adjustment means it works harder exactly where it’s needed, on carpets. It’s overkill for hard floors but is arguably the best carpet cleaner in the Shark lineup. The Powered Lift-Away is a premium touch.

Best For

Homes with primarily thick, deep-pile carpeting. Tech enthusiasts who love smart features. Users who want the absolute maximum suction power and automated cleaning intelligence from a Shark vacuum. Those who need a powerful, motorized handheld for above-floor tasks.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Most advanced cleaning technology with auto-sensing dirt detection.
  • Extremely powerful suction, especially on carpets.
  • Powered Lift-Away pod is highly effective for stairs and furniture.
  • Self-cleaning brushroll and excellent HEPA filtration.
  • LED headlights are genuinely useful.
Cons:
  • Significantly more expensive than other Navigator models.
  • Can be heavy and the self-propelled brushrolls make it feel “pushy” on some rugs.
  • May be overkill for homes with mostly hard floors.
  • Larger footprint for storage.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I researched this vacuum heavily before buying it and honestly I was not sure it was going to be as good as everyone said. I was wrong. The vacuum is stellar. I can tell that it’s cleaning the carpet in a way that it was not cleaned by my old Shark vacuum because of what I see in the dust cup as they call it.. it’s hardly a cup it’s huge. The one thing they don’t tell you in all the reviews and videos that I watched is that the motorized brush rollers are really powerful. I’m 72 but fairly strong very physically active/fit and this thing just about ran away with me. It was a workout to use it. Not in a bad way but still a workout. The forward is easy..but on the backstroke you’ve got to really pull against those brushes that want to go forward. Very impressive results so far. I might update this after three or four months of using it. I have a low pile ribbed carpet and I’ve been using it on the medium setting which seems to be appropriate for this carpet. I’ve not tried it on my hardwood floors yet. All I can say is the suction is very strong and puts my older.Shark Navigator and classic Miele cannister vacuum to shame. Completely worth the slightly higher price, very easy to put together right out of the box,. I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Customer Review: This is my second Shark Vertex, model az2002. The first one lasted 5 years. The plastic swivel component that attached to the floor vacuum literally broke in pieces, a small piece first, then a large piece, then all of it. It would still vacuum, but not stand up, nor could you maneuver it. Tried repairing, gave up. I replaced it with a Shark Navigator lift away. I had previously owned one of those. After using the Navigator for 7 or 8 months, I decided to go back to the Shark Vertex. My reasons were, the Vertex is self cleaning. I have a great Pyrenees and a shepherd Pyrenees mix, a 2 small dogs. I vacuum every other day. It takes forever when you have to stop and clean the brush roll out. I also have a shag area rug, and when using the Navigator, even with adjusting the suction, it was more of a work out and struggle. I started looking at the Vertex model and caught it on sale on Amazon, I won’t say what I paid, but it’s a lot cheaper than what the price is now. Having said all this, the Vertex is worth it. The suction surpasses the Navigator, and it even dusts your floors. Long dog hair, no problem, vacuuming the car, got it. I dont find it to be heavy, or cumbersome. The Navigator is a good vacuum, but for me the Vertex is worth it, even if I only get another 5 years out of it.

9. Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum LA502

Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with No Hair Wrap, HEPA Filter,

This is a “Rotator” model, which is a slightly different design line from the Navigator, but shares the same core philosophy and HEPA technology. Its standout feature is DuoClean PowerFins Technology with two brushrolls (a PowerFin and a soft roller) that provide constant contact for a streak-free shine on hard floors and deep cleaning on carpets. It also has a Self-Cleaning Brushroll and Lift-Away functionality.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • DuoClean PowerFins Technology: Two brushrolls for superior hard floor cleaning and carpet agitation.
  • Self-Cleaning Brushroll: No hair wrap.
  • Lift-Away Detachable Pod: For portable cleaning.
  • Anti-Allergen Complete Seal + HEPA: 99.9% allergen capture.
  • LED Headlights: To see under furniture.

Why We Recommend It

If you have a lot of hard floors (hardwood, tile, laminate) and hate the streaks or dust trails some vacuums leave, the DuoClean system is a revelation. The two brushrolls work together to pick up fine dust and polish the floor as you go. Combined with self-cleaning and Lift-Away, it’s a premium, versatile machine that excels on all surfaces.

Best For

Homes with extensive hard flooring, especially if they also have area rugs or carpets. Pet owners who want the best of both worlds: no hair wrap and fantastic hard floor cleaning.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • DuoClean PowerFins leaves hard floors impeccably clean and streak-free.
  • Excellent on carpets as well, with strong agitation.
  • Self-cleaning brushroll handles pet hair effortlessly.
  • Lift-Away pod adds versatility.
  • HEPA filtration and LED headlights.
Cons:
  • One of the more expensive models.
  • The DuoClean head can be a bit bulkier, making it slightly harder to get under very low furniture.
  • Some users report the soft roller can struggle with very thick, shaggy rugs.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I live in the desert so a LOT of dust and dirt get tracked into my home, and I also have a what WAS a “fancy” floor finish that now flakes up CONSTANTLY, so keeping up on vacuuming is a *constant* chore. Just to make things more complicated, I’m disabled and have arthritis, so doing a lot of moving around and bending down to get at tricky spots used to leave me laid up for an entire day after housekeeping.THIS vacuum cleaner has been a complete GAME-CHANGER! It is a *little* heavier than I expected, but for all the other features, it’s enough of a trade-off. One of the BEST features for someone with limited flexibility is that you can lift the light-weight cannister and motor section off of the base and carry it around like a hand vacuum. You can *also* remove the handle from the vacuum in two differed lengths – a short handle for cleaning things at waist height and above, and a LONG handle to get under crevices and other spots on the floor without bending over or getting down on your hands and knees for tricky spaces! This vacuum allows me to adjust the rug/floor setting with a button near the handle without having to bend over and fiddle with a knob near the floor, and even has a setting to automatically adjust itself to go from carpet to bare floor. The motor is STRONG and does an excellent job at cleaning the carpet and floor with just a few passes. For getting under cupboards and furniture, there’s a sensor that will give a boost where you need one, and a light that goes on and off automatically because the darn thing is MAGIC and knows when you need it!The cannister that holds the dust and dirt is on the small side, but I think this is a plus because even though you have to clean it out a little more often, it doesn’t vomit out so much gunk that you end up covered in dust and grime. That is also why it is small and light enough to carry around, so I consider it a feature, not a bug.It is a little pricey, but I think it’s been worth every penny. I actually look forward to using it because it’s made it so much easier to keep my house clean again!

Customer Review: Awesome value. I use a Miele C3 vac ($1,000+) in my main home and bought the Shark Rotator for a beach house. After using the Shark for the first time in main home, I’m impressed. Cleaning dog hair off carpet and grit off hard floors looked thorough. The Shark is almost as easy to manipulate as the wand and power carpet brush on the Miele. The Shark doesn’t get any long border collie hair wrapped around the rotating carpet brush. Shark’s liftaway capability provides the mobility, although heavier, of the long hose on the Miele canister vac. Wrapping the cord on the Shark is an added chore that’s automated with the Miele cord rewind. The Miele has killer vacuum and graduated vacuum control for drapes versus a basic high-low vac control on the Shark. I like the bag filtering on the Miele to capture more dust because I have mild allergies, but the Shark dust bin empties easily. For 1/3rd the price the Shark Rotator is a champ.

Complete Buying Guide for Shark Navigator Upright With Hepa Filter

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best Shark Navigator with HEPA, you’re really deciding which feature set aligns with your home’s needs. The core elements are consistent: Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with a true HEPA filter is non-negotiable for allergen sufferers. Next, determine if you need the Lift-Away pod for stairs and furniture, or if a standard upright with a long hose is enough. The brushroll type is critical for pet owners—opt for a Self-Cleaning or Zero-M brushroll to combat hair wrap. Finally, consider dust cup capacity (Deluxe models have larger bins) and maneuverability (Swivel Pro models excel here).

Budget Planning

Shark Navigator uprights with HEPA filters offer a wide price range. The base Lift-Away models (like the NV352) provide excellent value, often found between $150-$200. Models with self-cleaning brushrolls or larger dust cups typically run $180-$250. The premium, sensor-driven POWERDETECT or DuoClean Rotator models can exceed $300. Set your budget based on which problems you need to solve most—pet hair, large home size, or hard floors—and you’ll find a model that delivers without overspending.

Final Thoughts

The Shark Navigator line with HEPA filtration represents a sweet spot in the vacuum market: professional-grade cleaning power at a consumer-friendly price. There is no single “best” model for everyone. The classic Lift-Away (B005KMDV9A) is our top all-around pick for its balance of features and value. Pet owners should gravitate toward any model with a self-cleaning brushroll (B08TT4YHG1, ZU561, LA502). Those with mostly hard floors will appreciate the DuoClean power of the Rotator (B089TPNZQ5). By matching the specific features to your home’s layout and your pet situation, you can’t go wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a Shark Navigator and a Shark Rotator?

A: Both are upright vacuums with similar core technologies (HEPA, Lift-Away, etc.). The main difference is the cleaning head design. Navigators typically have a single brushroll, while Rotators often feature DuoClean technology with two brushrolls for enhanced hard floor cleaning. Rotators may also have slightly different styling and onboard tool storage.

Q: How often should I replace the HEPA filter in my Shark Navigator?

A: Shark recommends replacing the post-motor HEPA filter every 6-12 months under normal use. However, if you have allergies, pets, or vacuum frequently, check it every 3 months. A clogged HEPA filter severely reduces suction and allergen capture. The pre-motor foam/felt filters should be rinsed weekly and replaced every 6-12 months.

Q: Are Shark Navigator vacuums good for pet hair?

A: Absolutely, but the model matters. Any Navigator with a Self-Cleaning Brushroll or Zero-M technology (like models B08TT4YHG1, ZU561, NV151, LA502) is specifically engineered for pet hair and will prevent wrap. Models without this feature will still pick up hair but will require more frequent manual cleaning of the brushroll.

Q: Does the Shark Navigator work well on hard floors?

A: Yes, most models have a “bare floor” setting that turns off the brushroll to prevent scattering debris. However, for the best streak-free clean on hard floors, look for a model with DuoClean PowerFins (like the Rotator LA502), which uses two brushrolls to pick up fine dust without pushing it around.

Q: What does “Lift-Away” mean and is it worth it?

A:Lift-Away means the main pod (motor and dust cup) detaches from the floor nozzle, converting the vacuum into a lightweight, portable canister. This is incredibly useful for cleaning stairs, cars, furniture, and ceilings. For multi-story homes or anyone who hates lugging a full upright around, Lift-Away is a hugely valuable feature and is worth the small price premium.

After reviewing the top models, it’s clear that Shark has a Navigator variant for nearly every need and budget. The key is identifying your primary pain point: is it pet hair, hard floors, stairs, or pure value? Our top pick, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away (B005KMDV9A), delivers the essential, balanced performance that made the line famous. For pet owners, stepping up to a self-cleaning brushroll model is a wise investment. No matter which you choose, you’re getting a powerful, HEPA-sealed vacuum that will dramatically improve your home’s cleanliness.
