Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I’m in love! This steamer is fantastic! I have 3 cats, a dog and two grown men in my home and keeping up with the floors was a nightmare! The water tank is easy to fill and replace. There are three steam levels, which heat very quickly! Performance has been steady for each setting, and the steam output on the highest is perfect for my needs. The pads are easily removable and washable. It takes a little oomph to get it around the corners, but is otherwise easy to manage.
Customer Review: LOVE IT! Love the scrubbing circles with this updated steam mop! I have multiple dogs and during rainy/mud season I can’t live without my quick and handy steam mop! I am already a Shark fan and this did not disappoint! Long cord, quick start, decent cool down, and after market options for extra pads available. Three settings available depending on how bad it is. I use it on my vinyl plank in the kitchen, hard wood every where else, and tile in the bathroom. So easy and quick it saves my back from mops or hand washing. My floors get really bad really quick with 4 dogs and a husband in construction that refuses to take his work boots off until his day is done!

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: With 4 kids and 2 wild cats who love to leave me presents this Shark SteamSpot steam mop has been a miracle for my house. With baby crawling and walking everywhere, this was super easy to get started and use right away. I love how lightweight overall the steam mop is. XL removable water tank that fills 16.9 fl oz of water (or 500ml). I love that its chemical free and just use water! Comes with 2 washable pads that doesn’t get ruined after several washes. Very simple to stick them on and steam away the dirty floor. I’ve tried this on varies of floors, from tiles to hardwood to laminate. Works excellent on all! Too bad it doesn’t steam the carpets hah. This steam mop has 3 modes for steaming, I tend to use maximum level and it does a fantastic job. I love how it lasts to cover my entire kitchen, living room and laundry room plus halls before I need to add more water! That’s a lot, with the fact I have a spacious home with lots of space. If you press the handle, it releases more steam for extra spot on cleaning! I can’t believe I didn’t have this steam mop sooner! All those vacuums I’ve ever owned didn’t do it’s justice comparing to this product. Love steaming as it kills those germs. One way I’d improve this product is having the cord being a retractable cord for easier to manage cord. The cord itself is long and there are hooks to wrap it around when cleaning or putting it away but I think a retractable cord would be a better design. Does a fantastic job cleaning and heats up quickly!
Customer Review: I enjoy the steam mop more than the conventional mops. This one works extremely well. Cleaning power is top tier. Steam quality is great and you control how much steam would be released. no need to worry about leakage and it fits almost anywhere. overall easy to use.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I’m in love with this mop.My husband cooks in the kitchen a lot for friends. I cannot keep up with the cleaning. It’s really hard on my back and energy, so much so that I have to do the kitchen floor across two days. It always was dirty. Stuff was stuck on that I just could not get up without getting down on my hands and knees – but I cannot due to age and health issues.I was using one of those squirt mops. It was so difficult to get anything off, and you’d have to use it immediately after a spill to keep things clean, if you want the easiest cleanup. Then I got this mop. This mop is like using a vacuum across the carpet. It’s that easy. It’s easy on the back, and I can do my floor quickly, even when it was at its dirtiest when I first got the mop.Once it’s assembled, it nearly instant to heat up – very quick. It does make a little noise – don’t be alarmed. Then you’re off to steaming your floor clean, with no chemicals. There’s a medium and high steam setting. I set mine to high because of the stickiness, grease, and messes, but the medium setting works pretty good too. It makes the floor warm and puts out some steam to clean. It’s not hot to walk on. Shoes are suggested, probably because your floor is wet and you can slip. If you wear shoes, make sure they’re anti-skid, and not something like flip-flops.I’m so happy to have a clean and neat kitchen floor now. After my husband was done cooking this week (after he splattered a tray of sticky sauce and half-cleaned it) I went in with this mop and the floor was clean again in no time.My first mop didn’t work properly and I had to send it back. The second one, the water door latch doesn’t close after the first time it was opened. I wanted to return it too, but Amazon offered me a percentage off to keep it. So I decided to do that. The mop works just fine and I love it so much, I don’t want to return for a pristine mop. This mop has been on a great sale, and what a bargain.
Customer Review: Bought this Consumer Reports highly rated steam mop to clean tile floors. It cleans well! Our kitchen floor had some gunk tracked it that needed to be scrubbed. The scrub brush and the high steam setting got it all up with some persistence. My only complaint is that I wish the brush was easy to remove for cleaning. I had to clean the gunk out several times before the floor was clean. You get plenty of steam on either the Hi or Low steam settings. The cord is plenty long enough and wraps in the cord holders easily. Use distilled water. The time from ON to hearing steam is less than 30 seconds. The mop is comfortably light weight.Recommend being careful with engineered wood or when cleaning grout. CR does not recommend using steam for real or faux wood despite all of the videos you can find doing it. Could cause buckling is their claim. I used the brush to dig the grout out of our bathroom tile and had to replace it. (Thought it was dirt. It wasn’t.). The wider grout in our kitchen was cleaned by the brush with no problem. Again, cleaning grout with aggressive brushing and high steam is not recommended.Otherwise, wish we had bought a Kenmore steam mop a long time ago.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I’m a previous Shark Steamer owner. It was a flat steam mop not rotary. I had this one maybe 10 years. That one got water temps to about 180 degrees. It worked really well but left streaks. I had tried other steamers that promised to get water temps to 212 degrees which is boiling point for water. They all failed within months. Too small and too hot. So I continued to use my old Shark Steamer with ok results. I prefer the idea of steaming for cleaning vs the chemical solution for other store bought mops.I bought this one in December 2025, just before Christmas because the old steamer died. I am very pleased. The things I like include the following.1. Bigger water tank. I can steam clean more before taking the time to refill. The old one took 3 fills to do a small clean like the kitchen and bathrooms. Today I did a much more thorough cleaning, rolling up rugs, moving furniture etc. This was a longer clean time. I filled twice. Very happy.2. I didn’t know if I would like the roller pads as never using before. It actually works well. It is so much easier to move the steamer over the floor and I think it cleans better. Also, I don’t get the streaking I got with the old machine. I’m very pleased.3. It is light weight and easy to maneuver.4. Steam: So the pads are wet with the steam water and you have a button to push for more steam if you need it. Very nice. Needless to say, I get enough steam to clean the floor. Very happy.5. The prompts ask about scent? I don’t know why. I do put a bit of vinegar in the distilled water. My preference.6. I use distilled water.7. The pads are easy to snap on and take off once you get the hang of it.Concerns include:1. The cord is stiff. The cord on my first steamer was very pliable. The cord gets wrapped around the 2 hooks on the handle. The question I have is will this decrease the life of the cord? I have no idea. Perhaps with use it will be more flexible. I could be just being “new”. Time will tell.2. The cord is shorted than the Shark steamer I had before. I have added a short extension set for ease.3. The pads work well. They also get very dirty, to be expected. I found that I have to take a strong brush to the the pads before putting them in the washer. Otherwise they come out really cruddy. It’s a small step. The old steamer mop head got ugly pretty fast. I have 2 sets going right now and doing well.Over all, I am very very pleased with this Shark Steamer and would recommend.
Customer Review: Best stream mop model to date! If you’re looking for a way to stream sanitize your floors this is the model for you. This is the S8201 and newest edition to the Shark Stream Mop line. This upgraded version has a removable tank, making refills easy. I recommend using distilled water for cleaning, especially if you have hard water or treated city water – it prevents mineral buildup within the steam vac. This is lightweight and, while it’s not cordless, the cord is plenty long enough to clean a large area. We have hardwood in the kitchen, dining room, office, and living room and I was able to steam clean all of these floors with one small tank refill. It has three settings, the higher, the more powerful. It’s a self-propelled steam mop too, so it’s really easy to move around compared to manual ones. This version also has LED lights – a feature I love in all vacuum type devices because it can make it so much better to catch missed areas. The steam blast feature works great on stuck on stains. Occasionally it takes a few steam blasts and passes with the spinning scrubbers if something is really stuck on the floor. I loved mine so much, I got one for my moms house in NY too. She is disabled and needs assistance with cleaning, and that seemed like an easier option than brining mine back and forth. Oh, and let me add – during winter months when the salt from icy roads inevitably gets tracked inside from shoes or furry paw prints, this can clean those spots up super fast! The S8201 model comes with four spinner attachments. After cleaning, just toss them in the wash and once dry they are good to go again. A much more environmentally conscious product compared to one time use mopping pads seen with things like the Swiffer Wetjet. The price for this has fluctuated a lot over the past couple of months. I initially purchased mine for $179, but then a couple weeks later it dropped to $119 so I did a re-order/return – $60 is a big difference. Whether you’re buying through Amazon, Shark, QVC, or TikTok – just make sure to pay attention to the model number being sold! The S8200 only comes with one set of scrubbing pads (and tends to cost more), and any lower model number is outdated. If you like to clean and sanitize without harsh chemicals (especially if you have young kids or pets!), this is worth your investment.
7. Shark Steam & Scrub Steam Mop S8002BRN
This is essentially a slightly different variant of the S8001 (our #3 pick), often found at a different price point or in a different color (like tan). It shares the same core technology: the automatic scrubbing rotary head that provides over 150 scrubs per minute. It has two steam modes and an XL tank. The key takeaway is that it delivers the same reliable, powerful Shark Steam & Scrub performance that users love, making it a great alternative if you find it on sale or prefer the aesthetics.
Key Features That Stand Out
- ✓ Auto-Scrubbing Rotary Action: Effortlessly lifts dirt and grime.
- ✓ 2 Steam Modes: Adjustable for different floor types and mess levels.
- ✓ XL Water Tank: Cleans larger areas without stopping.
- ✓ Swivel Steering: Navigates around furniture and obstacles easily.
- ✓ Chemical-Free Sanitization: Uses only water to kill 99.9% of bacteria*.
Why We Recommend It
It’s the same proven Shark scrubbing technology in a slightly different package. If you see this model at a competitive price compared to the S8001, it’s absolutely worth considering. The performance is identical, offering a smooth, powerful clean that feels almost like the mop is doing the work for you.
Best For
Anyone who wants the classic Shark Steam & Scrub experience (rotating pads, good steam power) and happens to find this model on sale or in a color that matches their preference.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent scrubbing power from the rotating pads.
- Simple two-mode operation is easy to use.
- Large water tank and long cord.
- Often available at a slight discount compared to other variants.
Cons:
- Lacks the Steam Blaster and LED lights of the more advanced S8201 model.
- Mop head swivel is good but not as advanced as some competitors.
Customer Reviews
Customer Review: We love our Shark vacuum, so when 5 star reviews of this Shark power steam mop started popping up, I was intrigued enough to actually watch the videos. The first time I used it to clean our vast, faux wood, great room floor, I fell in love.I was so over all the other mops with the sprays, chemicals, soaps and vinegars, leaving behind smells and streaks that either had to be rinsed (a whole ‘nother job) or would quickly pick up dirt. This light, quiet, water only steamer with the whirling, non-scratch pads just pulls along, taking dirt and grime with it. Changing the pads out after each room space ensures I’m not spreading grime, and the water is super easy to refill.I have dubbed it the Sharknado, and it is here to stay.
Customer Review: This steam mop really delivers. Cleans my tiles very well. Easy to use. Moves smoothly back and forth and from side to side. Begins steaming in seconds. No more dealing with sticky floors from using too much cleaning product. No more needing to dump nasty water out. No more chemical cleaners. If your floor is really dirty you may want to give it a quick mop with a regular mop, or have a few extra pads handy. But so far, I have had no issues with dirty streaks.
8. Shark Steam Pickup 3-in-1 Steam Mop SD201
This is a truly innovative hybrid. The Steam Pickup does exactly what the name says: it picks up wet and dry debris as you steam mop, eliminating the need to pre-sweep. It combines powerful steam with a motorized brushroll to scrub and sanitize. The concept is brilliant—you’re vacuuming and steam mopping in one pass. Just be aware that it does leave the floor quite wet, so it’s best for sealed hard floors that dry quickly, not for water-sensitive surfaces.
Key Features That Stand Out
- ✓ 3-in-1 Function: Picks up debris, deep scrubs, and steam sanitizes simultaneously.
- ✓ No Pre-Sweep Needed: Captures dry and wet debris as you go.
- ✓ Motorized Brushroll: Provides 2X better stain cleaning vs. traditional steam mops.
- ✓ Separates Debris: Easy to empty and maintain.
- ✓ Chemical-Free: Sanitizes with water alone.
Why We Recommend It
It revolutionizes the mopping routine by cutting out the pre-sweeping step. If you hate bending over to pick up crumbs or using multiple tools, this is a huge time-saver. The cleaning power is impressive, and the convenience of having a collection bin is a game-changer for daily maintenance cleaning.
Best For
Busy households with high traffic and lots of tracked-in dirt/debris (think kids, pets, muddy shoes) who want to streamline their floor cleaning routine into a single step.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Eliminates the need to pre-sweep or vacuum before mopping.
- Excellent at picking up both wet and dry debris.
- Strong scrubbing and steam power.
- Easy to empty and clean the debris compartment.
Cons:
- Leaves the floor noticeably wetter than standard steam mops.
- The debris container is small and needs frequent emptying on very dirty jobs.
- Not suitable for water-sensitive flooring like some laminates or unsealed wood.
Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I was skeptical of how good this work work, because I bought the Bissell equivalent (a wet mop/vac combo) a couple years ago and it was an absolute disaster and waste of money. Clogged up, sputtered filthy water out, was inconsistent in dispensing water and cleaner. This however did an amazing job, was super simple to use and virtually no assembly required. The steam got scum off my hard wood floors I hadn’t mopped in months up in addition to sucking up debris. I like not having to use floor cleaner either and just steam. 10/10 recommend. I am calling it my depression assistant. When i get down and out the idea of sweeping and mopping thr floors is daunting. Not anymore!!
Customer Review: This is my first vac/mop combo. I have used a steam mop for years and I am sold on the power of steam. However the pads always seem to stir up a bunch of stuff that needs vacuuming.I saw the shark 3 in 1 steam pickup on the Just a Dad channel and was impressed with the effectiveness and simplicity, not to mention the low price point. My experience it’s lightweight builds up steam quickly, very effective at removing stuck on stains and picking up debris. Certainly has a limit to how much it can pick up with the relatively small collection tray, but it has made me reevaluate how important suction is vs head construction on a vacuum. This thing does not use suction but I would be hard pressed to say it doesn’t pick up everything a normal vacuum would plus mopping the floor. The cons, since it doesn’t suction it leaves the floor pretty wet especially if you have to work over a spot for a bit. It will pick up spills milk, water etc. but it is not going to dry out the floor a whole lot. Just leaves it clean and wet.If you want steam you are going to have a cord and I think this is an excellent choice. It certainly is nice not having to buy a bunch of proprietary solutions, just water. If you give up steam something cordless may be a little more convenient, although cleaning this thing is super quick and easy, the dirty stuff is all confined to three easy to access and sink wash components. And the cord is long and really only adds the time to plug in and wrap up.Last thought if you have a flooring type that is sensitive to heat or water ie. Some types of lvp, linoleum, or hard wood anything not sealed, you may want to be careful with this it is both hot and wet. Maybe something that vacuums and stays cold will keep your floor dryer and prevent warping or loosening glue.
9. Shark Steam Pocket Mop S3501
The Steam Pocket Mop is a long-standing Shark favorite known for its unique double-sided microfiber pad. You simply flip it over when one side gets dirty, doubling your cleaning time before needing to change pads. It’s a lightweight, no-fuss machine that heats up in 30 seconds and uses only water. Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Easy to handle and works great. I only use it on the tiles in our bathrooms. Comes out nice and clean after use. Definitely would recommend.
Customer Review: I’ve had my Shark now for over two years and it’s still going strong! I was honestly nervous after receiving my steam mop because it did feel a little flimsy. However, that being said…it would be tiring to use a heavy solid mop that holds added weight in water! We decided to go with the steam for several reasons but first, because my daughter suffers from severe allergies! This mop uses no cleaners and does a much better job than a traditional mop and bucket. I also liked the “green” factor of no cleaner and washable pads. I have washed and reused the cleaning pads too many times to count and not a single one of them is showing any signs of wear!! (not counting some staining of course) Also, one of my daughters accidentally dropped my Shark down the basement stairs and cracked the plastic housing…didn’t effect the mop in the least. It feels no flimsier and hasn’t worsened as I’ve continued using it…and it doesn’t leak. It’s plastic…I don’t blame the mop for breaking when the same daughter dropped my cast iron pan down the same stairs and that also broke 😉 We have finished hardwood floors, laminate floors, tiled floors, Allure floors and oiled pine floors…this mop works wonderfully on every one of them! I’ve used it to remove general dirt and grime, sticky nasties, wax, crayon, marker, paint, wood stove ash residue, unidentifiable kid & pet surprises and numerous food spills all with great success! I have recommended this mop several times and will do so several more times I’m sure! The only drawback, by the way, to steam mopping is during peak humid summer weather, although the added humidity during the dry winter months is great! ;)***UPDATE***Sadly my Shark pocket mop finally died 🙁 It stopped making steam after 4 years! My super handy husband popped it open and removed one tiny little part and it worked again…but only for a couple more moppings. So…after four years of using the daylights out of it I am back to buy a new mop…just an FYI in those four years we have had 8 children, 2 adults, several animals and countless house guests traipsing in and out! I did the research…I read the reviews…I compared prices. For the money…I am buying another Shark Pocket Mop!Things I’ve learned…I originally bought the mop with several heads. I only used the rectangular one. I have an open floor plan so if you have tight spaces the triangular head may work better for you. I didn’t use the carpet attachment either…with my daughter’s allergies we got rid of all our carpeting…which means our entire house is bare, steam-moppable floors…this mop gets USED! Our house is not large…28×26, two and a half levels with moppable floors with a mostly open floor plan. The cord reached every area from one central outlet.**UPDATE** The cord on the new mop is shorter than the old one. I was disappointed, but it still mops the same…only now I have to move the plug to more than one outlet…not a deal-breaker for me** I also never had to buy replacement pads in the four years I’ve owned them! They are no longer white…but they still work beautifully! I occasionally tried the big purple fluffy pad that came with mine but I wasn’t totally thrilled with it…maybe because it took longer to wet enough to clean with…admittedly I just want to get mopped and be done ASAP. If I came across an especially hard spot to get clean I simply (with shoes on!) stepped on the head and applied pressure and steam for several seconds and rarely had anything not come up…even cooled candle wax 🙂 Most other mops don’t look like you could step on the head without damaging it.By far my favorite feature is the reversible mopping surface! I mop half of one level (it actually could do more) then simply flip the mop over to mop the rest with the clean side! LOVE that! No changing scalding hot pads part way through a mop job or waiting for it to cool down enough to change it! I also got one level done on one tank of water with some left over 🙂 AND…even though it said to use distilled water I never did….I used straight well water from the tap…and we have high iron in our water. I am most definitely a fan…especially for a price that’s nearly half of many of the other steam mops out there!I am sorry that some other reviewers did not have the same experience I have had. I understand that this is an electronic appliance. My new one may have a manufacturing flaw that my old one didn’t. You will get that with ANY electronic device…some will be flawless…others DOA. A definite pain, but for this mop, in my opinion…well worth the risk 🙂 FOUR years…and 3 months to be exact! I totally got my money’s worth!

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I gave 4 stars as Shark Steamer mop S1000 is a good product. My last one was the purple steam mop and lasted 15 years. It was used at least once a week on all floors and for mess. It has the power steam and wipe the dirt away. Fast and easy. I have sealed hard wood floors, lots of tile, have always had two large dogs and one messy spouse who seams to drop everything on the kitchen floor, and brings in mud. (The dogs are cleaner). Needless to say, it gets good use. Fill the tank, wait as instructions say 2-3 minutes, you will hear the steam and it ready. I like the washable pads and ordered six extra to have them on had. The last was you had to fill the tank, not removable. This new one has a removable tank which I like the idea. Easy to dump out any water remain to let dry. However, maybe because it’s new, I find the tank is a bit hard to remove, the instructions say to pull up and out. You have to just pull out. The button under the tank on the machine its self does push in to allow the tank to snap back into place, but to remove it takes a little figure power to pull out. It needs a tank release button to make easier for arthritis hands. But I am still sticking with this machine and brand, hope it does me just as well as the last one.
Customer Review: don’t normally write reviews but Ohh My! great performance! especially for the price. I can’t afford to buy a wicked expensive professional high end steamer, so went for this. I did 4 rooms rinsing/hand washing the pad in between rooms. time consuming for first run but wanted to do it right as the directions instructed. tip.. take yr time with patience. a small area at a time, moving the mop slow, pumping the handle for good steam. as instructed go over the area numerous times (per directions 15 strokes), slowly. I broke it down to smaller patches of floor at a time. took a lot of breaks so I had patience. after the steam cleaning I mopped all the floors with my swiffer (reusable cloth pad) n pine sol to test how dirty the swiffer pad got as opposed to normally. huge difference! barely dirty swiffer pad, indicating the steam mop did the job. tested out barefoot & my floors feel soo smoothe n clean! also my house is high traffic from people and PETS. even with cleaning regularly the mop pad got verry dirty, i know it took a lot of dirt off the floors that normal cleaning just dont achieve. made a HUGE differences to crevices & edges where grime builds up. note: over time the floors will get even cleaner, can’t expect perfection one round with built up dirt that hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned by normal mopping. as time goes by can probably lighten up with the time spent & the repetitions.is plastic but thats a great thing, is light making it very easy to keep going! Just be careful not to bang it up or toss it around. reaches under furniture items great! manuevers with ease in all directions. wish the water reservoir was bigger had to refill several times, however as I said I took my time going over all areas numerous times, pumping out lots of steam. I will probably thoroughly steam mop the floors periodically, in between do normal mopping.have a new ceramic tile bathroom floor that per the instructions, I did not use the steam mop. if it’s not coated or sealed it can discolor the ceramic. read all the directions.the cord is frustrating, in the way. i hold it up as i mop but for the price and performance i can deal with that. don’t hesitate my house feels so clean n sanitized!
Complete Buying Guide for Best Shark Steam Mop For Hardwood Floors
Essential Factors We Consider
When choosing a Shark steam mop for your hardwood, several key features make a big difference in real-world use. Steam power and heat-up time are critical—you want a mop that reaches at least 200°F quickly to effectively sanitize and dissolve grime. Mop head design is next: rotating/scrubbing heads (like on the Steam & Scrub models) provide mechanical action to lift stuck-on dirt with less physical effort, while flat pads require more user pressure. Water tank capacity determines how long you can clean without refilling; a larger tank is better for spacious areas. Pad type and cost matter too—washable, reusable pads are more economical and eco-friendly. Finally, consider maneuverability: swivel steering, weight, and cord length all affect how easily you can navigate around furniture and across large rooms.
Budget Planning
Shark steam mops range from around $70 to $200. The budget-friendly models (like the S1000 or Kenmore SM2060) offer solid, basic steam cleaning for under $100. Mid-range models ($100-$150), such as the Steam & Scrub S8001, add rotating pads and multiple steam modes for better scrubbing power. Premium models ($150+) include advanced features like Steam Blasters, LED lights, and removable tanks (S8201). Consider how often you’ll clean and the severity of your messes. A higher upfront cost often means less physical effort and better long-term results, but a simpler model can be perfectly sufficient for light, regular maintenance.
Final Thoughts
You can’t go wrong with any Shark steam mop for routine hardwood cleaning—they’re all designed to be safe for sealed wood and use only water. Your choice should hinge on your specific needs: do you want maximum scrubbing power (Steam & Scrub series)? Do you need handheld versatility (Multi-Purpose model)? Or is a simple, lightweight design your priority (S1000)? Pay close attention to the mop head type and tank size, as these have the biggest impact on daily usability. All the models on our list are highly rated and will leave your floors clean and sanitized without harsh chemicals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are Shark steam mops safe for all hardwood floors?
A: Shark steam mops are safe for sealed and finished hardwood floors. The steam is applied to the pad, which dampens the floor surface but does not saturate it. However, you should never use a steam mop on unsealed, waxed, or oiled wood floors, as the moisture can cause damage. Always check your floor manufacturer’s recommendations first. For extra caution, test on an inconspicuous area.
Q: Should I use distilled water or tap water in my Shark steam mop?
A: For optimal performance and longevity, Shark recommends using distilled water. This prevents mineral buildup (scale) inside the heating chamber, which can reduce steam output and eventually cause the mop to malfunction. If you use tap water, especially hard water, you’ll need to descale the mop more frequently. Many users report success with tap water, but distilled water is the best practice for a long-lasting appliance.
Q: How do I clean the microfiber pads?
A: All Shark steam mop pads are machine-washable. Use warm water and a mild detergent—no fabric softener or bleach, as these can coat the fibers and reduce absorbency. Tumble dry on low heat or air dry. It’s best to wash pads after each use to prevent dirt and grime from setting. Having multiple pads allows you to rotate while others are being laundered.
Q: Why is my steam mop leaving streaks on the floor?
A> Streaking is usually caused by one of three things: 1) Using too much steam on a setting that’s too high for your floor type, leaving excess water. Try a lower steam mode. 2) A dirty or saturated pad. A pad overloaded with dirt will push debris around instead of lifting it. Rinse or change pads frequently. 3) Not going over the area enough times. The first pass may dampen the dirt, and a second pass is often needed to lift it away. Ensure you’re using slow, overlapping strokes.
Q: Can I use my Shark steam mop on laminate or vinyl plank flooring?
A: Yes, but with caution. Shark steam mops are safe for sealed, waterproof laminate and luxury vinyl plank (LVP). The key is that the floor surface must be fully sealed and not have seams or gaps where water could seep through and cause swelling. Always check your flooring warranty. Use a lower steam setting and avoid lingering in one spot. For older or less-sealed laminates, it’s safer to use a damp (not steaming) mop.
Choosing the right steam mop for your hardwood floors doesn’t have to be complicated. Based on our testing and user feedback, the Multi-Purpose Steam Mop (Best Choice) is the ultimate all-around performer, especially for pet owners and families. If you want the most effective scrubbing power from a Shark, the Steam & Scrub S8201 (Editor’s Choice) with its Steam Blaster and removable tank is hard to beat. And for those on a budget who still want reliable Shark quality, the Kenmore SM2060 or the basic Shark S1000 are exceptional value picks that get the core job done perfectly.
